I have it set to record all new NFL games. For some reason I have like 5 different games that are all listed under one listing. All 5 files are named different. I think it is only using the date to identify the files.
Any ideas how to fix this?

I believe it’s categorizing all the games under “NFL Football (2019)” i think this has something to do with the guide update they did with server version 1.16
What service are you using to see all of these games?
I have Verizon Fios with 2 HDConnects.
Right now my server version is on Windows 10 at
To me it looks like it is parsing the filename wrong. Now I have 10 different files on under 2019-08-08. I wish I could split them up.
Thanks
Neil
I did remove the 2019 from the folder name. It split them up at that point.
And it added the year back to the folder, and now it is doing the same thing again.
Exact same problem here. Any solutions, other than going in and manually renaming games?
This isn’t going to work if it does this for all sports. They have a new updated version 1.16.5, hoping it helps.
Even better it is recording everything multiple times. I have it set to New Airings Only and it still records them.
Each game is taking up 30G of space.
This is really making the Plex DVR unusable. I am really close to paying for Emby to try it out.

It is recording the same game on the same channel on 5 of my 6 tuners and the game is a repeat. This is a disaster. I add 60 minutes on the end of each game so I don’t miss overtime, it is making the problem worse.
Any updates on this? My games are still getting recorded and shoved under the same date even though they are different games. The regular season has begun!
I have this exact same problem. It says I have like 4 copies of the exact same episode of NFL Football (2019) when it recorded 4 different games. It seems to also have set the date and timestamp to the same day and 8:00 AM even though the games aired at different times.
Anyone know how to fix this?
I am still trying to figure that out too. You used to be able to split up versions. I don’t see that option any longer. It is really frustrating when I want to watch a game.
I noticed the 8PM game on Sunday was named correctly and the 2 Monday night games were not under the same entry. They actually had the team names in it. Looks like they fixed something. You might need to manually refresh the guide.
Now I really need them to mark the replays on the NFL Network correctly.
I have looked into an issue where “MLB Baseball” replays on 576 ATTHD appeared as New and that has now been referred to our provider.
If there is a similar issue for other sport events, please let me have details so I can check it out and refer to our provider. I need zip code, lineup name, channel number and name, and which future airings are correctly set as new and which are actually replays.
Plex Media Server Version : 1.16.5.1554
Server Hardware: Qnap NAS with up to date firmware
Tuner Hardware: HDHomeRun Duo
The issue I see is the format in which the Plex DVR writes the file name. Currently when Plex DVR records a sporting event it uses this type of format for the file name:
NFL Football - 2019-09-15 05 00 00 - Kansas City Chiefs at Oakland Raiders.ts
College Football (2019) - 2019-09-14 05 00 00 - Pittsburgh at Penn State.ts
When Plex reads the file name to add it to the library it cant get past the Time Stamp in the name. With the above example it only reads NFL Football - 2019-09-15 05 00 00 then stops. This causes Plex to use for the title and sort title just the date (2019-09-15) If you record two games that are at the same time it really confuses the software causing it to treat each file as a version of a single episode.
What needs to happen is Plex needs to use a file name in the same format that it uses for regular television shows.
Example of the above files corrected
NFL Football - S2019E02 - Kansas City Chiefs at Oakland Raiders.ts
In using this format Plex can obtain the Season from the Year and the episode from the agenda view information in Recordings.
Do you have to do this manually or is there an update for it? Right now, I watch a game, log into my server and delete the file, then watch a game, log in an delete the file, back and forth. It gets old fast.
Having the same problem with NFL games. I record all available OTA games on Sunday/Thursday but Plex only shows one game for playback. If you click on get info, Plex shows all four file names of the four games but will only playback the top file.
Adding the S2019Exx to the the file name and then refreshing the metadata will add the games to the library, but it only shows the season and episode number. I have tried several different ways of renaming the recorded file, but none will show anything other than the season (2019) and episode number that I added to the file name. I can’t figure out how to get Plex server to show the team names.
Should not have to rename recorded files just to be able to watch the recordings.
My post was showing what Plex is currently doing wrong and what they need to do to fix the issue. I agree we should not have to go server side to do any file name changes or deleting like richmich said.
