I prefer to Force Direct Play, why? I have a Raspberry Pi 4, and while it can transcode and play, the quality of Direct Play is always better. Some movies when played via Direct Play pop-up a “No Audio Detected” warning and flips overs to Auto to play the file. I did see another thread where this was resolved ~June timeframe, however, this does not appear to be the case.

I’ll just go ahead and solve this one myself and hopefully this helps anyone else looking for an answer. The problem is that Roku can’t convert DD+ down to DD. I changed to the following settings and everything works as it should.

Roku:
Audio mode (Auto (DD+, DTS))
HDMI (Dolby Digital Plus, DTS)
