I have just tested on 1.27.1.5916 and I still have the issue.
Live TV works all ok, but playing something already recorded I don’t get any sound at all.
Would this fix only work on new recordings since the new server version, or should all media play audio now?
no problem, i will pm you the log zip
I tried re-installing the app, and then also resetting the app and re-setting up, but still the same issue, live tv all ok, but playing back the recording of the same live tv and no audio, only video.
I have just checked again after re-installing the latest Samsung app and upgraded to the latest production release of PMS ( 1.28.0.5999) and I still have the issue.
Have you had a chance to take a look at the logs / found anything in the logs that could show what is going wrong?
Do you need more logs / info from my side?
Its been 6 months now that we have not had audio on recorded tv, is there some way I can assist in speeding up the investigation?
I just checked again on the current latest (Samsung app v 5.44.6 and server 1.28.1.6104) a we still have the same issue, live TV works ok with audio, but recorded tv there is no audio.
I have been taking a look around and doing a bit of testing and found that all the media with audio codec of AAC_LATM are the ones which dont have sound when playing on the Samsung Plex app, and all live tv recordings record as AAC_LATM.
A recording of live TV has the following audio codec info and has no sound on the TV:
I then used the optimized versions and optimised using the “Optimized for TV” setting and this then converted to include audio codec AAC:
(using the Samsung TV Plex app only the AAC codec audio channels are in the list and not the AAC_LATM, but using the Plex web UI both AAC and AAC_LATM are in the list)
This version works all ok on the TV with audio, and looking around different media I have all the ones with AAC work perfectly with audio and all the ones (which happen to be live tv recordings) have the AAC_LATM codec where the audio does not work.
Is there any way of forcing live tv to be recorded with the AAC codec and not AAC_LATM?
I am experiencing the same problem. I have a Samsung AU9000 TV and a HDHomeRun Connect Quatro. My plex server has run on both Synology NAS and NVidia Shield (V4.84.1).
When viewing any of the UK HD channels recorded or live (all broadcast in AAC_LATM) I get no audio so need to transcode. The SD channels all work correctly (broadcast as MP2 stereo)
I can view the HDHomeRun on my TV using DLNA connection and the audio runs fine so the TV can decode the ACC_LATM audio.
Watching the Live TV on Android tablet or iPad the audio runs fine.
I’ve had similar issues with the audio on DVR recordings. Here is what I’ve been doing to bring it back.
From your Plex Media Server in a browser:
Settings
Languages
Prefer Audio Tracks in “None”
Prefer Subtitles in “None”
Deselect (Unchecked box) - Automatically select audio and subtitle tracks
These are to try and force Plex to record all audio tracks available
Save Changes
Manage
Live TV & DVR
- Delete DVR
On the Plex Media Server
Complete any available updates
Reboot Plex Media Server
From your Plex Media Server in a browser:
Manage
Live TV & DVR
Add DVR(s)
Rescan Channels
Go to the Live TV and check all of the channels that have more than one audio track. If any channel is missing some audio track, repeat the check of all of the channels until no audio tracks are missing.
Try the DVR.
Hopefully, Plex will record all available audio streams and you may have to select the English stream if more than one is available and Plex doesn’t choose the one you want.
Playback Settings
Audio Stream
If more than one audio stream is available, choose the one you want
The best results that I have found is when I make any changes - updates, add files, delete files, etc., I complete them all at once and then go thru this process completely.
