No DVR option for Nvidia Shield Media Server

i can’t figure out what I’m missing. I have an Nvidia Shield and a plex pass with an HDHomerun Connect. I’ve enabled Plex Media server on the shield and followed the directions to configure the DVR on the plex.tx web page. But there is no Live / DVR option. I’ve even reset the shield to factory defaults and still don’t see it. I’ve since installed plex media server on a PC and I do see the live TV and DVR option there. Any suggestions?

What version of plex do you have?

If it’s not 1.9.4, on your computer, go on google play, search for plex media server. Click install. Log in using your Shield Google account and select your Shield in the drop down menu. This will push the latest pms to your Shield. It will also link pms to your Google account, so next pms update, it will show up in google play app on your Shield.

I appreciate the response. On my pc i have 1.9.4. I just bought the shield and plex pass this weekend so it’s a new install. On my shield I did go to google store and there was a plex app update. Is there a separate update for the media server? Is there a problem with running PMS on a PC (windows 7) with DVR added and then adding the same DVR device from the the Shield?

From app.plex.tv when the Shield is selected the version shows 1.4.3.3433. When I select the media server that is on the PC it shows 1.9.5.4339

Yes, plex app is the client. the server is a different app. That’s not a good idea to share the same tuner between 2 servers. PMS assumes that it has the exclusive access to the tuner. So doing sharing could create conflits.

To update your pms installation on your Shield, like I explained, on your computer in a web browser, go on google play, search for plex media server. Click install, log in using your shield google account and select your shield in the drop down menu. This will push the latest update to the Shield.

oh ok. i misunderstood, i didnt read carefully enough. thank you very much!
