No EPG display on Sony TV after update to beta version 1.16.1.1291

After installing the beta release 1.16.1.1291 yesterday afternoon to try and resolve the issue of not getting channels ITV2+1 and Sony’s TMC.

Now I can no longer can see the EPG in the plex app on my Sony Bravia TV - instead a message is displayed “no items to display”

I can still see the EPG in Plex Web and on the Firestick app on my other TV.

I have deleted the app on the Sony TV and reinstalled, but the EPG still doesn’t appear

I can see the main Live TV page and can play TV shows from there.

I get the same. The NVIDIA SHIELD Plex app will no longer display the guide nor the Home screen, so missing Recently added, on Deck etc. It’s just a blank screen. The LG app displays the Home Screen but wont display the guide. MAC OSX App displays everything (EPG is still useless) as does the iOS app. Restarted PMS, and the Shield without success.

I’m now actively looking for Plex alternatives as even if they fix these issues, they cannot be relied upon for DVR services.

The Plex TV Guide has been removed on all Android devices, Sony Bravia Android TV, generic Android TV, Lg Android flavor TVs, Nvidia Shield, and Android phones. Maybe they no longer support them as the shield has had issues for months now🤷‍♂️

Thanks. If the guide has been removed on all of those devices, it would make sense to remove the link to it to avoid perceived failure.

The Plex app on Shield was updated a few days ago so its definitely still supported. Hard to tell if its the PMS changes, new app, or both that’s causing the Home screen failure.

It was a joke I don’t think they intentionally removed the guide. Hopefully they fix it, it has something to do with this server update. Android phones that have the traditional picture guide works fine.

I updated about 10 minutes ago, and no epg data is coming through on plex web. plex cant even load my dvr settings in the config. im running on ubuntu 16.04.

I’m really tired of Plex messing things up when a new update comes out, I’ve only just started updating again fairly recently after the last bungle with the android app last July/August/September and now this.

Really…??? When did the EPG get removed from Android?

I’m so glad now that I didn’t get rid of my Virgin box & subscription on my main TV, because otherwise I would have no channels on that TV as the antenna cable is now plugged in to the HDHomeRun box.

Also over a month ago I posted this thread and it was responded by an employee named David which I don’t think works for the company anymore as he has not responded after that. There’s quite a few problems with Nvidia shield and was informed by him there’s no estimated time of repair but it’s been almost a month and a half now and still nothing. Would you be so kind to check into this as well. I would greatly appreciate it.

Well stated; I am having the exact same issues running Plex Server on the Nvidia Shield. No communication from the Plex team is frustrating to say the least.

I guess the good news is that I purchased a Lifetime Pass so I get to be frustrated for a “Lifetime”

Not sure if this will help the group or not, but hopefully. EPG is working on both my Shield and Sony Android TV. Both running Oreo both latest PMS (Windows10) and Adroid client.

-Delete the DVR and reinstall
-Rescan channels
-Remove clients from authorized devices
-Delete and reinstall clients

With all that mine works - but there is some strangeness. Launching the Android TV client is often “blank screen”. I have to select the server, exit back to Android and then go back to Plex. The categories will be there but no recently watched added on deck or any of that.

We did not remove Guide from any Android device :slight_smile:
I tried to reproduce the issue, but it behaves correctly for me. Could you guys share logs (here or in private) so we can investigate?

@romancamelia What logs can I provide from my Shield TV?

My PMS + EPG work fine on all other clients for me except for my Shield TV. The problem doesn’t appear to be related to PMS and started happening with the most recent Android TV Plex Client update.

Thank you so much for the response. How do I go about sending you the logs? And would you like it on Windows 10 Plex server or would you like it on the Shield? I tried the above things by removing the tuners and dvr, re-doing the guide, removing the device under authorized devices and it still didn’t make any change. I also tried uninstalling the update on the Shield which just goes back to when the shield had no TV option. What’s weird is when I unauthorized the Shield on the server it doesn’t ask me to sign back in even after closing the application and restarting it it just brings me straight back to the homepage on the shield 2015, but the shield 2017 made me sign back in.

If you remove the shield from ‘Authorized Devices’ and then login/re-link the home page comes back as normal. Live TV-Guide still doesnt work, but the on deck etc is there.

If you then close the app and re-open, the Home page is blank again, and will remain blank until the app is removed from ‘Authorized Devices’ again. Nothing else works including rebooting the shield

I’ve done all the recommended troubleshooting and here’s the screen I still get on my old shield and on my new Shield. Weird part is the blank home screen issue only happens on the 2017 Shield my 2015 Shield doesn’t do it. Both of them have no guide though.

Amazing that the Plex team seems to have the only Nvidia Shield that doesn’t have the problem.

I am just happy we have a team member helping!! I will be even happier to have live tv back:)

Have you actually shared your “Logs”? I did not see a response as to how to go about sharing logs to the team member.
