I’m not seeing a play button on the live TV…only the record button. I’m talking about the web version. It makes no difference what computer I use or what browser. The live TV works fine on my Nvidia Shield TV boxes.
Got to program guide "on right now’ hover over the middle of PIC Icon of the show you should see a play button.
You also need to be on the latest server 1.8.4 to have this (I think 1.8.3 introduced it for Web).
Note that it doesn’t work for me (Windows or QNAP server), always resulting in shaka1001 (Network) error with HDHomerun Extend/Connect.
For me it doesn’t work in Firefox but does (little buffering) in chrome.

I have this same problem. I am on version 1.8.1.4139 on a sheild tv pro. I have tried in chrome, firefox, and IE, and only have the record option. Please advise. Thanks.

ahhhh… When I looked at the version i have I thought it said 1.8.4… but its actually 1.8.1.4… whoops!!!..

Any ideas on how to get shield tv pro to update the server? I have tried going into Google Playstore and it says I am on the latest version. I am a lifetime plex pass user. Thanks in advance.
I’m having the same issue with a Shield server. Live TV shows up on everything else currently capable (android phones, android tablets, Shield, & Fire TV Stick). It just doesn’t show up for web. My server is at 1.8.1.4139 but checking the Play Store and restarting the Shield doesn’t do anything.
Do I just have to wait for some staged rollout to hit me?

I’m having the same problem. Version 1.8.4.4249, Windows 7, Chrome browser, HDHomerun Prime tuner. I only have the record button (no play) in the Program Guide -> Watch Now or Program Guide -> On Right Now sections. DVR works.
@DaveDickison, I’m in the exact same boat as you. I even tried manually updating the web client, but no luck.
FYI: I am running two different Plex servers (due to Plex not recognizing multiple HDHomeRun’s). Both servers are setup the same way (Windows 7 64bit, PMS v1.8.4.4249, Web Client 3.20.5 and Google Chrome v60.0.3112.101) and live tv isn’t showing in the web client for either.
In Internet Explorer v11.0.9600.18638, I do see the live tv option, but get an error “Playback Error, Streaming this media is unsupported”.
I cleared my cache, cookies and restarted Chrome and I am now seeing live tv. 
Plex did not release 1.8.4 to the Shield, not even to the beta tester program. However, you don’t need it to get live tv in the web from your Shield. You need to access the web app through plex.tv, not from the Shield ip address. Like @boggle said, if you don’t get it, just clear your browser cache and it should appear after it.
Here a print screen from my web app. I’m running the beta pms on my Shield 1.8.2. You can see that the play button is there.
I am still not able to watch live tv through a browser through shield tv server as other have. I have cleared cache on each of my browsers (firefox, chrome, ie) and all I have is the record button. There is no play button. I have even had two friends who have never used plex nor logged into my plex go to plex.tv and log in as me. They do not have a play button either.
Any ideas of what I am missing?
You are running 1.8.1, I’m running 1.8.2. Seems to be the only difference between you and me. You could sign up to the beta program and update to 1.8.2 to see if this is it.

I’m having this same issue. I have tried in Chrome, Internet Explorer, Edge and Firefox. No play button!
I primarily use Chrome. I have cleared cookies, cache, closed all Chrome processes and restarted Chrome, and restarted the entire computer. (Windows 10 Pro)
I’m running PMS Version 1.9.0.4252 on Ubuntu 16.04.3 64bit.
I haven’t seen the play button since it was released for the Web Client. It does works for my iOS/tvOS clients.
Any ideas on what I can check?

Still no luck for me after clearing out browsers and trying different browsers on different computers. Maybe I need to start using the Beta version.

I thought that this was only something to do with the Shield, not just in general. Sure enough when I try through plex.tv, it works great. Is this by design to work via direct IP address access to the server , or just the current state of things?
