On Tuesday 8-6-2019 I gave my PMS a “tune-up” before Football season started. Checked for updates (Windows, Drives, Firmware, etc), re-scanned for channels, deleted old shows, etc. When I was finished, I restarted the PC and tested, everything was fine Plex was streaming shows (locally and remotely). Then on Thursday 8-8-2019 went to watch Football and Plex cannot play any TV channel (locally or remotely) I saw a message about cannot find TV Tuner…
Bottom line, the football game did record, I was able to watch live TV using the WinTV software that came with my Hauppauge WinTV-dualHD dual tuner. I could stream recorded shows, just nothing from live TV and I can stream the last nights recorded game. So Plex did recongnize the TV Tuner for recording, not just Live Stream. When looking at the TV Tuner setting in Plex, I did see where it showed 1 of 2 tuners was in uses (recording the game)
The only change that I can see between 8-6 & 8-8 was the UNO UI Plex update.
Anyone else seeing these issues? or have any suggestion of what to try?
Went to troubleshoot this more over the weekend and Plex is now streaming locally and remote… not sure what changed? I’ll keep an eye on it. My next step was to replace the USB TV Tuner with a Homerun Extend.
I was watching Live TV until the DVR started recording. Now none of the Channels are working except for the recording. I know earlier this year I was able to record and watch the same show.
I have confirmed that I can watch the same channel but using the WinTV software.
Something must have changed with the WinTV Software when I updated it. It must now lock on to one of the tuner when Windows starts up (for recording or fast load time?). Even though I do not open the software, it was still scheduled to start with Windows. In the options I was to un-check the startup option. I’m going to keep it install as a backup/testing.
After I restarted the PC, I can now record and Watch the same Channel or I can watch two different channels at the same time (locally and remotely)
Looking at the DVR settings, now I can see 2 tuners are in use.
As a precaution, I went into the Startup Menu and I disabled everything related to the WinTV (aka the “2nd” TV Tuner software). Making sure Plex is the only software accessing the WinTV-dualHD tuner.
