I am running PLEX Media Server 1.13.8.5395 on Windows 10 machine and on 10/5/18 it started indicating “There was a Transcoder error” for all scheduled recordings and “Unable to tune channel” when selecting to watch a channel live. I can watch channels from either of my HDHOMERUN boxes thru the HDHOMERUN app without issue. I have attempted to resolve by updating the firmware on both HDHOMERUN’s and removing the DVR on PLEX and Re-adding both tuners. The only change I made before the issue was adding a Guest account with pin for primary account. I removed the Guest account and even selected the auto sign in option with no positive result.

I’m having the same problem; it’s been working perfectly for many months but now I keep getting “There was a transcoder” error when trying to record a programme on most channels (HD or SD) and I can’t even watch live TV from PMS as I’m just getting a spinning circle; however, all channels that don’t work for live TV on PMS do work when using the Plex Media Player (PMP) on the same Mac mini or the Plex app on my iPhone.
I thought a retune might help but then I discovered that the channel scan doesn’t find any channels anymore.

BBC 4 probably doesn’t work because there is no active programme right now.
I’m running PMS on a Mac mini - everything is updated to latest version.
I got it all working again.
I’m not 100% sure as I haven’t fully tested this but since I switched off my Triax IP 100 SAT>IP receiver, the channel scan worked again. I’m now running the latest versions of macOS (Mojave 10.14) and Plex PMS (1.13.8.5395) and was able to successfully perform channel scans and also record programmes.
I’m not using the Triax receiver for watching TV but it was left on stand-by; I guess there must be an IR command used for a different device that inadvertently switched on the Triax device and this then caused the issue of Plex not being able to tune into or scan for any channel.
I am surprised though that Plex didn’t try other tuners. I have 3 satellite inputs connected (1 input is unused) and Triax would only have taken up one of the 3 tuners.
Uninstalling Plex and installing a previous version from the Plex’s update directory fixed issues.
Live TV HDHOMERUN has not worked since version Plex-Media-Server-1.13.7.5369-93c9f1259. Plex has released 3 broken version as of10/13/18 that cannot tune channel. You can find previous version in C:\Users\UseridOfPlexInstall\AppData\Local\Plex Media Server\Updates. You will have to uninstall current version then install the version listed above. Live TV will start working again.
For all the details provided in this thread, not one person has said which model of HDHR they are using.
I haven’t experienced these issues with an Extend, FWIW.

Hi. I’m stuck on an old version of Plex Server because of this issue. Does anyone know if it has been fixed in the latest updates, so I can start updating again? I haven’t been able to find it in the release notes. Thanks
