No offline subtitles on iPad

Bump!

Some. Subtitles are adding to the file but cannot be selected. Subtitles selected prior to syncing are not burned in.

Please send help.

Same issue

Can someone from the team please respond on here ? We have heard absolutely nothing, not even an acknowledgement of the bug, since it was first reported nearly 3 months ago

Any news from PLEX Team regarding this subject/problem?

What a bummer. I was so happy to see that Plex Lifetime was on sale but there is no way Im not going to ask for a refund if subtitles dont work as I like watching non english movies and tv series and subtitles are a must.

I’ve found a new update on the matter maybe this will help the developers to narrow the issue down.

  1. When in iOS app if you enable picture in picture mode somehow subtitles starts working again. Keep in mind that I have my “Use Old Player” mode turned off in advanced settings.

  2. When I enable “Use old player” the subtitles also work as expected but after a while the picture and sound becomes out of sync.

Hope this helps :v:

Ive tried this on both iPad and iPhone, doesn’t work on either with that method

Are you trying this with synced media or by streaming. This issue regards media synced for offline use

All synced media

Did you try watching it on picture on picture mode? It works when the video is playing in that smaller window. When you try to switch it back to full screen the window kinda gets refreshed and is back without subtitles.

I tried with Pip but it did not work for me, i tried on iphone 12 pro

What has worked for me is enabling the old video player In advanced settings.
Not ideal but at least there is a workaround.

Yes, I did - didn’t work

Explain something for me, when you’re using PIP, how do you select the subtitles ? Is it before you go into PIP mode or access the Plex setting while you’re already in PIP mode ?

Before syncing I select the subtitle I prefer. Also I have all the subtitle settings set to automatically select.

Actually this is a good workaround, there was a audio out of sync issue in the old player. Didn’t you get that issue?

I was not aware. I didn’t play the video back enough so I don’t know
 Will try later.

Automatically for synced contents ? Thats new to me, where do you find that option ?

As far as I was aware, we are only able to have it automatically selected when streaming directly from server

Updated to iOS 14.6, PMS up to date, same issue. Subtitles appear in synced playback selection, but are not selectable.

Edit: non-sarcastic question - do any of the Plex devs use offline sync on iOS for foreign-language content? Are you not as ■■■■■■■ furious as the rest of us? Is there anything that we can do to help?

I came here to see if others are having this problem. I bought a Lifetime Plex Pass to support Plex; the only reason I download content to my iPad is to watch while flying. It’s noisy on the plane and subtitles are essential to catch some dialogue. But the subtitles don’t work and have been broken for months.

I’ve tried the usual things: Delete & re-download the show, delete the app & start over, manually select the subtitle and re-download the movie, change to the old video player. Same results: When go to the downloaded show the subtitle is off (but is available.) I select the subtitle; the checkbox flashes for a moment on the subtitle, then goes back to “off”.

It’s frustrating to have such a basic thing be broken for months, without even a response from the Plex Developers. Please please please fix this!

Another topic of the same thing
Maybe if people start to report the problem several times, the Plex devs might wake up!!!

Already reported this issue, and other people also, in this forum
and nothing

They are focusing in non essential things, like games on plex, podcasts, live TV
things that the majority of people don’t use and don’t care

Will wait, just until August (+~ 6 months after the problem started), after that I will change and start referring people to EMBY!

Having exact same issue for a few months now. I usually watch a lot of synced content that need subtitles and as a Plex Pass subscriber I’m pissed off that this issue has not been addressed yet. Come on, Plex, don’t ignore this!
