Everything with my Windows Plex server has been perfect and remote access has been flawless.
Last night I upgraded to 1.16.5.1554 and also noticed Windows did an update.
After that happened, I now see the message “Not available outside your network”.
If I try to connect remotely, I get an alert about using a “relay”.
I am properly signed in to Plex.
I can see my “Private” IP is 192.168.1.5:32400
I can also see my public IP on the screen, but then there’s a red “x” before it says “Internet”.
I have not manually specified a port.
In terms of Router, I have a Linksys Velop system.
I have a port rule that has the external and internal port of 32,400 sending traffic (UDP./TCP) to 192.168.1.5, which is the correct server IP. (And I didn’t change any settings on the router after upgrading Plex.)
So, at this point, since I didn’t really change anything, I’m kind of stumped about what I should potentially change to resolve this.
Did Windows classify your internet connection as “public”, instead of “private”?
It sometimes does this after a major update.
Turn it back to “private”.
I did double check just now and the network is still setup as “Private”.
I also used “CanYouSeeMe” to check port 32400, which also came back with a big green checkmark.
So, I know the port forwarding is working at the router level.
I’m just so perplexed about why Plex suddenly isn’t working after the upgrade.
In case it makes a difference, I was trying to setup a plugin yesterday as well and when it didn’t work, I deleted the files/folder for that plugin within the “cache”. I only deleted the folders with the plugin name specifically, so I don’t think I deleted any core Plex files.
Thanks so much for the prompt replies OttoKerner. Truly it is appreciated.
I did delete the actual plug-in files from that folder…but then I found other folders (after researching online) to find the underlying data storage location for the plug-ins (which is the cache I was talking about).
I’ll make sure the entire plugins folder is completely empty.
I will then follow your instructions exactly to uninstall and reinstall.
Just one quick question…
If I follow your instructions, will I lose all my current settings…specifically, the library setup, the users I’m sharing the libraries with, and the watch status?
If I have to lose all of that, I can reconfigure it…but if there’s a way to retain those settings that would be ideal.
Please let me know.
I’ll also make sure that Plex is uninstalled using the “Apps” control panel…no other random software for that.
