Remote Access - Not available outside your network

Updated plex and now I my remote access is not available outside my network. I’m not sure how to decipher my logs either. Any help?

Sometimes Plex takes a few minutes to update to show that access is available outside your network.

Did you manually specify your port? The update may have reset that setting - you may have to re-tick the box for port 32400

Did your internal IP address to your plex server change?

It’s been days since I updated and still no access.

I never manually specified the port before and it worked.

I’m not sure how to check whether my internal IP address to my plex server has changed or not, any instructions?

Provide details of your Plex setup, server info and screenshots if possible so we have enough info to help other than an update broke something. What’s the PMS installed on, where’s the media, what’s the port forwarding and is static up setup, etc? What troubleshooting steps have you taken? Does it work on some clients but not others?

Server is installed on a laptop pc in Windows 10. The media sits on an external drive.

I have no port forwarding and no other manual setup. When I first installed Plex, everything just worked remotely so I never touched anything.

The client does not work remotely on any device, including web browser and android.

In terms of troubleshooting I have tried restarting the app, disabling/enabling secured connection - that’s about it. I saw a document on troubleshooting but it was complicated and I didn’t want to mess with my router settings until I get some input from the forums first since this happened clearly due to an upgrade.

I’m not a pro but I believe your internal ip address to any of your devices including the PMS can change anytime the router is rebooted manually or due to loss of power, reboot of your laptop, etc which might explain why it worked before and not now.

Is this connected via a USB drive and if so is it always connected or is it a NAS?

Is the laptop on all the time and how is it connected to the internet…WiFi or LAN?
