No remote access for a few days

Hello! Due to the holidays I am away from home for a few weeks. I have not had remote access to the server for a few days (I have a NAS Synology DS220 +), I had it set without manual port control, I could see the content but as an “indirect connection” with poor quality, but it looked.

In this forum I read that you had to enable the manual port to 32400, CATASTROFE, from that moment I could no longer access the server. I have tried to uninstall the Plex Media Server from the DiskStation’s Package center and reinstall it, but now when I install it I get the following error:

“Port 32400 configured for this package is either used by another service or reserved for system use. Please disable or modify the conflicting service or contact the developer to modify the package configuration.”

As I did not have the port open (because I am dumb) I have called Movistar to enable it … nothing … I have deleted all the files from Plex Media Server (except Library so as not to lose all the content) and nothing … .I have uninstalled and deleted DS Video Station and Docker in case there was a conflict … nothing.

I’m a bit stuck … Can anyone think of how to fix it?

Rule number one: don’t panic

…at least that might have helped when you first attempted to fix things.
some side information: you don’t NEED to establish a manual port forward… however that can be helpful if you’re troubleshooting an indirect remote connection.

Considering you did panic…

  1. DS Video station does not interfere with Plex
  2. Docker does not interfere with your Plex Media Server – unless you’re trying to run both the native and docker PMS versions on your NAS
  3. your ISP has no part in your router or PMS remote access configuration (except maybe if they’re blocking traffic on certain ports)

Have you tried rebooting the NAS before re-starting the newly installed Plex Media Server app? It sounds like there might be some cached information about your previous install that cause the DSM to think the private port used by Plex (32400) is still in use.

If you want to specify a custom port on your router (no need for the public port to be 32400), you need to configure this on your router. Subsequently you need to configure the Plex remote access settings (a) to be aware there’s a manual port forward and (b) what public port you’ve set in the port forward on your router.

Thank you so much for the quick answer.

I have rebooted the NAS and now if it lets me install the PLEX package, but when executing the following message appears:
“Failed to run the package Service”

I have also tried to install the latest version manually. Same message.

Is this on the DSM 7.0 beta or are you still on the stable version 6.x? (and no… don’t upgrade if you haven’t yet!)

Yes, I have the 6.2.3 one

I just sent it by private message

Hello again! Merry Christmas!
I have managed to reboot the NAS, the PLEX package is executed, although it goes to an address http://user.fr3.quickconnect.to:32400/web that gives an error. But I have managed to modify http://user.synology.me:32400/web to open the Plex website, although it tells me that I do not have access to the server.

Plex doesn’t work with Quickconnect or similar services.
From your local network, open http://[Disk Station IP address]:32400/web instead.
Once you have linked the server to your Plex account you can also use http://app.plex.tv/desktop instead.
