Remote access is set up on my laptop. It never disconnects. But when I go for my walk to listen to Plexamp on my iPhone, I lose connection with the app. Are there any settings that I should check to find the potential cause?
This could be many things. Are you doing port forwarding correctly? Can you ping from the outside when it disconnects? Is your computer sleeping?
I’m doing port forwarding. I’m not sure how to ping. My Macbook does go to sleep after about fifteen minutes.
Do you lose connection at around 15 minutes or so?
If the machine is sleeping, Plex server cannot respond to any requests from clients.
While there might be a chance that the machine will automatically wake up when the request comes from inside the home network, it very likely doesn’t do the same when the request is coming from the outside.
