Remote server falls asleep?

Server Version#: 1.20.1.3252-a78fef9a9
Player Version#: 4.34.4

Since upgrading versions, Plex remote access acts as if it “falls asleep”. I went through the other forum posts and those were speaking in terms of the remote access enables for a moment and then disables. Mine remains on as it always has, but my mother (in another home, using Smart TV) cannot access it until she texts me. From there I need to open Plex in a browser (it’s always running in the background, just as it always was prior to updating), go to Settings were I will see Remote Access pop up the green check - then she has access. Essentially it’s like it falls asleep until I open it within a browser and it kicks back into gear. I don’t make any changes, I simply open it in the browser and go to Settings.

Can someone PLEASE help me with this?

I’m sure nothing is really wrong. Your mom just wants an excuse to talk to you. It’s sweet really.

An initial dumb question - your server isn’t going to sleep, right?

Do you have another device (a mobile phone?) you can use while troubleshooting this?

While NOT on WiFi, can you replicate that it isn’t available remotely?

If you switch to WiFi and are on the same LAN as your server, what happens? Is it available, locally, but not remotely?

When the problem is occurring, what does http://canyouseeme.org/ show for your IP address and the Plex port you are using?

Haha. It would be nice if it was just an excuse, but I was able to replicate it.

Tested on my mobile phone. NOT on WiFi, did not work. ON WiFi, it did work. So the issue is remote only. I don’t believe the server is ACTUALLY falling asleep - I only meant it seems remote is working in the same manner as a computer going to sleep. When it (plex) idles, remote stops working. When I access the settings, though make NO changes, remote access “wakes up” and is accessible.

I was late checking the link you sent for IP and port, as I mistakenly opened plex and “woke it up” before I did it - so the issue isn’t currently happening in order me to do this.

I’m only confused because it seems to work when I access Plex settings via browser. I don’t know how to troubleshoot something that works when I go to settings, but make no changes, and stops working when enough time has passed to idle out.
