No remote Access

Are Plex actually going to look into the fact that it shows as not available outside your network issue even when it is though…?

We will have to see if Tom can answer that. But I know that it has been a problem by itself for long enough that they now check with people to verify if they are in fact unreachable or if they are just being told that by Plex. I would think it should be a priority since so much wasted support time is spent on an issue that keeps reappearing often enough.

I’m here (April 9, 2020) because I too have the exact same issue. Fine for years, now can’t get a successful remote access. Definitely something new.

Ive been having the same issue as well, intermittent lose access to “Remote Access”. My setup has been working for over 5 years (Windows 10 Pro), no major changes on my network. I’ve also got Tautulli/Radarr/Sonarr/Ombi and ALL working remotely and NEVER had any issues.
Plex server DOESNT go thru VPN, other devices on the network does
Performed the following trouble-shooting

  • Untangle Firewall (DNS servers = 8.8.8.8 / 8.8.4.4) to mitigate DNS rebind protection possible interference
  • No Double NAT (CGN), confirmed that WAN interface IP address is SAME as “What is My IP Address”
  • When PLEX Remote Access is NOT available, still able to access PLEX server externally via using “https://<DOMAIN_NAME>:32400”
  • Rebuilt Plex server (Windows 10 Pro / Ubuntu) same issue

Is the Intermittent remote Access just erroneous, as no one of my remote users have complained

Driving me nuts

I have all those apps running too (not Ombi) and same: all ports and remote work just fine. It’s only Plex.

Problem still exists and of course no response for two months from them. I thought I had this fixed but it is still ongoing because it is unreliable at best even when it works now. Emby works through VPN’s just fine.
