Hey there any help would be greatly appreciated, i am at my whites end with this lol. I have had a working plex server for over 1 year basically. Worked with no flaws, i have had the ports forwarded on my router, have tried turning upnp on and off, i have also tried turning off my firewall and antivirus completely, still no changes, server connects for a second than disconnects. I havent personally changed anything other than windows updated itself the other day, and i even went as far as to uninstall those updates and no fix, i hope im posting this in the right place, i really need some help?

Have you already gone through the basic troubleshooting?
e.g. is your router’s public IP address accessible from outside your home network over the post you defined in the manual port forward?

From the looks of it Plex is able to identify the public IP address but fails to establish a connection. If you also cannot access the IP/port from a service such as canyouseeme.org you could try using a different port to rule out your ISP is blocking that traffic.

PS: that’s a really weird user name… hope it makes you happy :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

thank you for the reply, was wondering if anyone was gonna help, sorry about the user name it was just my email as my cat had a hitler mustache and not meant to be offensive what so ever. i tried canyousee.org and when i put in port 32400 and my address it does not show, so would this be a case where i should just forward a different port ? and if so does it matter what port? thank you in advance i have been going crazy over this

here is a picture of my router settings i tried adding a new port just at random and it is blocked too, not even sure whats going on anymore, could it my isp figured out im using plex and they dont want me using so much traffic?

If canyouseeme.org cannot see the IP/port that implies the issue is between your ISP and (including) the router.
If you try a different port, preferably use one in the range from 20000 to 50000 — however technically it’s also possible to reuse a more common port (at least for testing purposes)

thank you for such a quick reply, so heres a screen shot of what i changed on my router but than it connects and disconnects, and this is with my firewall turned completely off at this point so im stumped as i changed the port to 20000 as shown in the pic but nothing changed? connects for a second times out and says no connection after

here is also a pic of plex showing what im talking about thanks again i appreciate all the help from the community as i am very stumped at this point?

2 posts were split to a new topic: Remote access issues

yah mine wasnt a plex update i know that for sure as i even tried rolling it back after an uninstall and it still didnt help lol, i feel like im going crazy with this. Nice to hear im not the only one, seems like windows may have done an update, and have got as far to uninstall and see if that helped which it didnt so, put the updates back lol.

Having problems too. It has worked fine for a couple years. Now, I go to the settings page and it show not available remotely. in red. I retry an it says it’s available remotely. Within a minute, it is unavailable.

well im sorry to hear so many of us are going thru this? maybe its something plex has changed that as screwed us all? just a thought lol, nice to have a little community to talk to though, its appreciated as im going crazy with this

question so i go check 20000 on canyouseeme.org after adding it to my router and still says blocked ? could this be something to do with my isp?

Could be. Might be worth contacting them to ask if this is something they actively started blocking and (if so) if they can make an exception.

@bbyangl59 , @rdnolte : „I’m having problems too“ is no diagnosis. Please stick with the forum rules and don’t hijack other threads. Instead, please create an own thread, detailing your issue as precise as possible and include which server/player versions you’re using when this happens.

well i dunno what happened but it started working after i made a call to my isp and told them they were blocking ports? they said they didnt change anything, lol my butt lol, now it works? so maybe try that ? i just wanted to say thank you for all the replies and help. the community is great  thank u and hope maybe that helps anyone else

Maybe they didn’t do anything and their infra just needed a little „shaking“ . Glad it’s working though!

When I retry remote access, it sys it is working for few seconds then goes back to red. I have made no changes to wifi or plex.,

Have you verified it’s actually not working from a Plex app while outside your home network?
Is your router and still accessible from outside your home network via the defined public port used by Plex? (verify e.g. using a service like canyouseeme.org)

i have tried checking extenally

I too am now having issues with Remote Access.

I thought it was the latest version I had installed as everything was working just dandy last night (before the upgrade), so I downgraded back to version 1.23.2.4656.

But I still get: Not available outside your network

Your server is signed in to Plex, but is not reachable from outside your network. [Learn more]

No idea what the problem is, I’ve not changed any local network configuration, the firewall has not been modified basically, nothing has changed my side, apart from a Plex upgrade and then a downgrade back to the same version.

I’ve attached the Plex media server logs, if they are needed to help the devs/staff/support investigate etc.

I can connect to my Plex server by using my external IP address and port, so it’s nothing on my end but on the Plex.tv end.

From your logs you seem to have a case of what happened to the user in this thread (so many reachability checks that Plex is throttling the attempts)
