No Remote Server Access on One Device Only (LG WebOS TV)

Server Version#: 1.25.0.5282 (Synology NAS)
Player Version#: 5.0.1 (LG WebOS)

I can access my Synology NAS hosted Plex server locally and remotely on all devices except one - a remote LG WebOS TV with the latest player. On that same wifi network, I can connect fine via iOS or the web app.

Coincidentally, I also have exactly the same model TV on the NAS’s local network - and it connects fine.

Remote access is set up on the NAS via manual port forward. It works flawlessly everywhere except this one device.

The device is connected via the Internet and I can stream Netflix/ Amazon perfectly. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling Plex and trying different users but makes no difference. I can login but the main player screen says ‘“Server” is Currently Unavailable. Please verify that the server is running and has a remote connection.

I have run Plex for a few years but am at a complete loss - has anyone had this same issue?

Thanks,

Mark

Thanks. It’s an 2019 LG TV and another (coincidentally exactly the same model) works perfectly (albeit on the same local network as the NAS).

I’ll try that but given the TV is quite new, would be odd to end support.

My server is already set to ‘prefer’ secure connections. In any case, the list here suggests my LG TV (WebOS >3) supports secure connections.

Can anyone at Plex help with this one? I don’t understand it - the TV Plex app used to work fine but now doesn’t. Thanks.

WebOS > 5.0 ?

You can still make it work locally by allowing the LAN IP to be without auth.

Check the LG Plex app settings as well. It must be set to always allow insecure connections.
