No sound on Plex TV Channel

I’m running my Plex Server on a QNAP NAS. I have a HD HomeRun Quatro tuner set up. On the first TV channel (BBC1 in SD) there is no sound.

On the Windows Desktop program when I click on settings the the Audio Stream is set to Unknown (MP2 Stereo). If I change this to English (MP2 Stereo) the sound resumes. If I change channels and then return the setting has not been retained and I’m back to no sound. However when watching on a Roku it is not possible to access settings.

I would appreciate any help or advice to help resolve this problem

this is the second time I’ve heard this specifically in regards to BBC 1 SD… Try playing the same thing through HD HomeRun app, if it’s the same, then I would say it’s a channel problem, if it’s not the same, then you’ll probably need to provide a few more details so that the Dev’s, Team Members, Moderator, or someone with knowledge of this issue can help you further.

Sorry, I should have been a bit more clear. Personally, I am a user like you, just around to help out when it’s a problem I can solve. This is not a problem I can solve I don’t think.

Also, when I said logs, there’s kind of a specific way to go about it if you want them to matter. I don’t think logs will be necessary in this instance, but they could be. If you want to create logs relevant to this problem follow the following procedure.

  • Go to settings>Debug on the server, and then select “Enabled” from the drop down (do not use Verbose unless a mod/team member asks you to)
  • Shut down the Plex Media Server
  • Start up the Plex Media Server
  • Wait approximately 5 minutes for Plex to do its normal startup routine
  • Recreate the issue
  • stop playback
  • Wait another 2 minutes
  • Download those logs and attach

Doing the above will allow the issue to be isolated in the log files themselves so there’s less for people to go through.

Same! HDHomeRun Quatro (UK) and Plex Server.
Client is Roku Premiere.

BBC 1 SD sometimes there is sound and sometimes not.
If I watch the local news (BBC North West), then there is sound) then when it reverts back to national programming the sound drops out. BBC One HD is fine.

I noticed the MP2 Stereo vs English MP2 earlier today - I think this is the issue, but not sure how to change the audio channel within the Plex client on Roku either.

Basically, it’s not just you @2MDevices
Will keep digging.

Thanks for the replies and advice, I have good news. I haven’t changed any settings but yesterday the sound was present on BBC1 North West on all my devices and TVs.

I’m hoping this problem has somehow been fixed and that this is not a temporary reprieve.
