No subtitles and Server settings are unavailable (win 8)

I have been having a good support in external (English) subtitles up until recently (maybe 2-3 months) and it’s completely gone.
I also notice that plex has been unable to “detect” the content and find artwork and such and gives it a random screen-cap.
When searching for a solution for the subtitles problem I saw my answer could be something to do with agents - located in the server settings, however - I am locked out of my server setting with the message " Server settings are unavailable."
I have tried anything I could find - deleting H_keys (plex has a tutorial) - that did nothing
deleting plug ins
Ofcourse I completely uninstalled and re-installed the program but that seems to do nothing - it even installed back with all my libraries in place like nothing ever happened.

I am desperate I couldn’t find anymore online solutions and I can’t provide a log since it’s in server settings…anyone has any idea?

(edit topic with OS)

Perhaps

I had this problem way before the update unfortunately, I tried the fix in the link but editing the LocalAppDataPath reg that I added - there is no “D:” to add any “/” to.

Any idea how to go further?
should I try and downgrade?

The above fix only applies if you moved your Plex data folder previously.
If you didn’t then disregard it.

Thank you so much for your help, I wishi had better news…

I tried both, the first link basically just tells me to log in to both web and app, I have signed out and in multiple times, nothing seems to do anything (or even sign me out completely, even when I sign out and close the window when I open it again i’m signed in again, nothing makes sense)

The other link with the registry keys to delete- iv’e done that, several times (one is gone forever - 3 keeps reappearing). still nothing.

I’m really starting to think this is impossible, and I have no idea why.
I don’t even know that fixing this server problem will fix my subtitles problem but it will be a start.

Have you tried to re-download the installer .exe? Sometimes it gets damaged during download.
Try with a different web browser.

Then do the manual de-installation.

  • Stop/quit/end Plex Server with the tray icon
  • deinstall Plex Server with the regular ‘Apps’ control panel of Windows (do not use 3rd party ‘Uninstaller’ software like Revo etc.)
  • for safety, reboot Windows
  • download the installation exe of the newer version and install it

If that still doesn’t work, fetch server logs and post them here
https://support.plex.tv/articles/200250417-plex-media-server-log-files/

Nothing worked.
I uninstalled and re-installed (twice with this same error) and now all I have is:

" A problem has been detected with a core component of Plex Media Server."

I would post logs but I can’t access them (attached)
This is the most frustrating thing ever, what can ever go wrong?
plex

That doesn’t sound good.
Let Windows perform a disk check of drive C:

Say, have you ever started Plex server with a right-click and then picked ‘As Administrator’?
If you did, some files and folders in the Plex data folder may now be inaccessible.
The access permissions of the whole Plex data folder (meaning all subfolders and all files therein) need to be reset then.

Repairing the disc did it! :star_struck:
I was able to configure the whole thing, set my folders on plex and enter the server configurations!
After everything will sync I hope the subtitles will work well but I am so grateful for all your help!
