No volume slider in iOS App music player on iPhone X

Hi,

The volume slider on iPhone app isn’t just a cool feature that prevent having to use hardware controls of the iPhone.

In my usecase it’s a key feature as I’m using the iPhone app as a remote control for headless PHT devices with absolutely no hardware volume control.
I’ve invested into Plex to build a Plex infrastructure (plex pass subscription, plex-enabled devices in all rooms) and it’s now unusable if I can’t change the sound level of it.

+1 to restore this small slidebar to change the playback volume of remote devices.

Thanks

Thanks guys! Keep on posting! Maybe they will listen!

Yes! There is currently no way to control the volume on a keyboard less player unless you ssh via command line or VNC. WTAF.

Bumping this again because I still got annoyed by the lack of volume controls in Plex on a daily basis. Yes, there are hardware buttons on my phone, but no they don’t allow fine grained control over volume. Sometimes it’s important for me to get the volume as low as possible while I can still hear it because there are people sleeping in the same room as me.

And the point about not being able to control the volume of other Plex devices when flinging media to them is extremely salient.

I use Plex through my IPhone and have found the volume doesn’t change whether using the normal volume buttons or not! They should just bring back the slider with an option to turn it on or off!!

I just realized, that for last half of the year, I have not been using PLEX to listen to music. I startet using Prism instead. It is very disappointing, that they take away a major feature, without the consent of the people, who pay for their product. And all this because of some designers problems with the optics of the slider. Guys, just make it optional!

They added a volume slider in the latest TestFlight version.

@Marc199

Well the physical volume control hasn’t been working at all when chromecasting - you simply cannot change the volume there from your phone.Its been like this for a long time now, so I assume that’s by design as well even though it makes absolutely no sense. Why use chromecast if you still have find your stereos remote to control the volume?

I was about to say that this is an iOS limitation, but it does work in other apps like YouTube.
Booted my Pixel to see if it works on Android: can control volume there, but it’s not always reliable (could be due to my setup).

Dear Plex. Can we please have our volume slider back? It’s a preferred feature for many of us and is crucial to be able to control the volume when casting via Plex. Thank you and regards CB.

Dear CB. Could you please read the thread before posting?

@darcilicious
Please, cut the guy some slack. Maybe he is not used to post in forums. Or he just doesn’t know, if features from the TestFlight builds usually make it to the public versions. I honestly don’t! Maybe you can help us out?

Sure! Yes, features from TestFlight make it in the final/public release (90% or more of the time).

Thanks Lord Husch and thanks for letting us know darcilicious that it may make its return. Not sure how their testflight works but going by that screen grab it looks like it may be in a secondary menu with other settings, rather than front page so to speak. At any rate the system is currently broken so needs fixing.

That is correct, there will be a “slide up” panel that has all those options, including a volume slider.

Well, there we are! The latest update brought back the volume-slider! It is hidden in the lower settings-menu, so that you have to tab once, before you can adjust the volume. But I don’t want to sound ungrateful, so: Thank you very much for listening, PLEX-Team! And thank you fellow PLEXians, for supporting this topic!

Hallaujah.

Thank you Plex team. Now all of us can sit back and enjoy what is coming that requires all that screen real estate.

Well as of 01/17/2020 the Iphone version of the Plex app is Version 6.6 and there is still no Volume slider in it. (and do not say to use a different app or some Beta version that everyone does not have access to) this App Required the Volume Slider. PERIOD. using the Hardware volume controller is not an Answer.

I guess that Plex Dev team the same team that though Microsoft should remove the Start button from Windows …

if that is the case. then all the people who work for Plex. need to Uninstall all version of Windows and only use WINDOWS 8. as they dont need a start button. as the computer has one on the case.
