No write access to destination

I’m getting a message “No write access to destination” when I try and record to DVR. I never got this to work, the only thing to note is I installed Plex from the native Synology interface, but then uninstalled and reinstalled manually as the 64bit app. The plex user has read/write in the synology interface. What else can I check?

I have a DS216+, HDextend, lastest plex 64bit.

If you have not expressly given user plex permission to write to the share where your recordings go, you will get permission denied.
Secondarily, if you’re trying to employ hardware transcoding, you won’t have access to it. The Synology-distributed file is 32-bits only.
You need to download the correct (64 bit) version from Plex.tv/downloads.

If I’ve missed on the issue: Log files / more details please?

Thank you for the reply!
Where does it write to? I looked in the Plex GUI and couldn’t find where its writing to. Currently the user plex has R/W to the plex share.

On 64 bit, I did download and install it.

I will try tonight when home and get the logs.

When using DVR, I create a Synology share named DVR.
In it, I create a Movies and Television folder
I give user Plex permission to write to both these folders.

Next, I create two Plex library sections: DVR - Movies and DVR - Television. I point each section type to the appropriate folder.

When I schedule a recording, I tell DVR to store (write) in the desired library section . See here for how-to

Somewhat confusing. Under TV shows it had ‘/var/services/homes/plex’, which I’m not sure where it is. I thought it was trying to write there. I created a 2nd one and all is working. Not sure why I needed that 2nd one.

Thx!

/var/services/homes/plex is the home directory of user plex on Synology.

There is no way to avoid this either. It’s how Linux works. :frowning:
