Noob Alert!!

Hi. I’ve recently bought a pass. I’m using the Plex app built in to my TV. Under settings, manual servers, what do I put in there as currently, nothing works. Many thanks.

First some question to help understrand your setup.

  1. do you have a plex server?
  2. do you know the ip address of the plex server?
  3. what model and or brand of tv do you have?

Thanks for the replies. I have the Plex App on my Samsung Smart TV. I have absolutely no idea what to do with it, but everyone is talking about it for watching TV etc?

Unlike Netflix, Plex does not provide streaming movie and TV content to you.

You will need 1 of 2 things:

  1. Your own media and your own plex server to serve media to the Plex App on your TV.
  2. A friend that is willing to let you stream from their server.

i really recommend that you read the post that @ChuckPA recommended:

support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/200288286-What-is-Plex-

basically you need a plex server (this stores and distributes your media (movies, tv, pictures, home video, mucis etc.), this can be a computer with plex sever install on it among other things. Then you need a place to view, listen, or watch your content ( your tv with its plex app). Also note that your phone tablet and many other things can be use as a plex client.

If this helps, while there are countless other ways of doing this, I selected a NAS.

This is my PMS. 32 TB raw, 25 TB formatted RAID-5, 15 TB In use.

@pompey@live.co.uk in other words you also need a server besides the plex app on your tv. And rip your dvd’s into files and put those on the server.
The many articles suggested will explain it much better. The NAS of chuckpa shows clearly you also need storage :).
The plexapp without server will not do much for you.
