Not accessible anymore - what changed?

I have three servers - one external, which works fine, and two in my home - one on my main tv computer / gaming computer, and one on a nas. Something happened in the last month or so - nothing on my end, and neither of them are accessible outside the network.

I have tried everything that i can find - resetting upnp, completely turning off any and all firewalls, restarting plex servers and the machines themselves. My next guess would be to manually configure port forwarding but that means I would need to turn off upnp, which seems to be working just fine (my QNAP NAS seems to connect fine outside my network, but plex won’t work with it)

Nothing works. I can access everything from this network just fine, but outside no one else has access. I really have no idea what to do since it just doesn’t make any sense.

So UPnP and manual port forwarding can’t work together?

I’m unfamiliar with networking in general, but I recently changed ISP and modem hardware, and I turned on UPnP when port forwarding didn’t work. Does this mean they’re mutually exclusive, and one can only be on when the other is turned off?

With UPnP and 2 Plex Media Servers in the same network you’re unlikely to get a successful connection from outside your network.

Go with a manual port forward with:

  • public port #1 pointing to PMS #1 at internal port 32400
  • public port #2 pointing at PMS #2 at internal port 32400
