Dude, I was worried they would block my residential isp… lol, I use hetzner as backup, if residential power outage or internet black out… lol…
Yes it does.
Your analogy absolutely does not work. Plex is not arresting anyone or limiting anybody from using their product. They are simply saying the land of hetzner is polluted and full of disease so it’s not safe to live there.
You may move somewhere else.
See not at all like being arrested.
Got plex lifetime pass. But switched to Jellyfin the day their LG TV app was made available in the store. That was roughly July 2022 according to some announcement blog post I´ve found. Never looked back since.
A friend of mine hosts his plex server at hetzner. Otherwise, I most likely would not have found out about this.
You’re contradicting yourself, I know it’s friday, but still too early to be drinking no?
I am not contradicting anything. You just don’t understand and that’s alright.
Read what you posted
I wrote it I don’t need to re-read it even though I did.
I agree. If they can’t white list us innocent users, Plex must refund all Lifetime Plex Passes, no matter when they were purchased.
“It absolutely does not work. Plex is not arresting anyone or limiting anybody from using their product.” then “They are simply saying the land of hetzner is polluted and full of disease so it’s not safe to live there.” , so they are limiting those " full of disease" of acessing it. Get it?
No they are not because they have given these unfortunate people one full month to move their ship to another port. One without sharks. Do you get it yet?
They’re even giving the sharing providers a chance to move ship if they so desire.
Ohh, so they will start limiting those “people” after 1 month. mkay
Those people have a chance to move. They’re not being limited theyre being forced to move. There’s a big difference.
Not everyone is able or willing to switch hosting providers because of Plex.
But malicious users will because they profit from it.
The actions taken by Plex won’t fix anything but hurt legitimate users.
If you read my post here: Not Allowed to use Hetzner - #232 by sixxnet
You’ll see that I agree with you.
Why? Were you required to buy it to host your server at Hetzner?
You were required to buy it if you wanted to use hardware transcode, and many hetzner servers have it, hard to find other providers that have a cpu with igpu at decent prices.
I don´t think they will be doing that especially with the lifetime pricing being as it is. If you´ve used plex for 3 years the lifetime pass becomes cheaper than the subscription and you never have to pay again. It just s*cks for people who recently bought it. For those you can argue about a refund.
I also got my moneys worth compared to the sub model even though I´m not using plex anymore for over a year.
Maybe, they will backpaddle on those changes. Otherwise, you either leave hetzner or plex.
That’s got nothing to do with Hetzner though. You’re required to buy it if you want that functionality regardless of where your server is hosted. Just because you can use the functionality there doesn’t mean you are/were required to buy plex pass.
No, but I love my server at Hetzner and Hetzner has top notch 24-hour support. A drive fails and they have a new one in place in under an hour. I would want a refund so I can take the money over to Emby or Jellyfin and run my personal dedicated server at Hetzner without being discriminated against.
