Server Version#:Synology Nas 1.24.5.5173-7000,
Reset my Synology NAS after a password loss. Could never connect to Plex again. uninstalled and re-installed plex. did it through package center auto and then later manually. tried the claim token. i simply get “not authorized” when i run the plex media server from the NAS. It shows I am logged into plex -but for some reason won’t let me in. The NAS does not show on the list of devices attempting to access plex.
i do not know how to access logs. i am not terribly computer literate.
- Uninstall the package – KEEP option
- Install the package again – Plex Claim Token option
- Click “Get Claim Token”
- COPY the token into your browser
- Return to the installer window
- PASTE the token in the small window
- Continue installing.
- Allow it an additional 30 seconds while the installer and plex.tv communicate
- When PMS starts, it will be on your account again.
As I said in the description, the token did not work.
If the token does not work:
- What is the LAN IP address of the NAS
- How are you opening the Plex app? by direct LAN address or are you using the shortcut in Package Center ?
- Are you using Quick Connect or a VPN ?
The “Get Claim Token” works by reaching out to Plex.tv
If the NAS is misconfigured and cannot talk to Plex.tv, it will not be able to authenticate. It must have the DNS and Gateway properly configured.
It just opened on the 5th attempt. I don’t even know why I did it since I didn’t do anything differently. So odd.
Does it indicate a problem that it refused to work and then suddenly did?
IP Address: 10.0.0.246 (DHCP)
Was opening in the package center, which is also what started the “get token”
Using quick connect.
QuickConnect does not work for Plex when you’re trying to claim it.
Synology changed the button behavior. If you have Quick Connect enabled, it injects their DDNS domain… It forces you to appear as Remote – which PMS blocks.
If Quick Connect is signed out – it works flawlessly.
AFTER you get it setup with using the LAN IP during installation, THEN you can use Quick Connect all you want.
Thanks. One dumb question -how else would I connect to the NAS? I only know quick connect.
Is the NAS there with you or is it remote (distant) ?
If it’s local:
- Open by http://ip.addr.of.NAS:32400/web
- Make a bookmark for your browser’s toolbar
local.
will do.
thanks
