Checked it all out and still not working. Everybody keeps telling how easy plex is. But l’m really starting to wonder. Any more help .BASICALLY its just not finding it in my plex media server. Really annoying
When creating media shares for Plex to access I would make them so guest/everyone is enabled for read access on them. This eliminates any permissions/authentication issue right off the bat.
This also ensures no bug in software or anything can modify your media library in any way.
In other words, don’t use the same shares to write/add media that you do for giving read access to for Plex as this will just cause issues and is harder to setup.
So map Plex to for example
\mediaserver\movies
And when copying files to it make a new share or just use the administrative share
\mediaserver\d$\movies
d$ being the drive letter of the drive that the movies folder is located.
Basically, in windows explorer or file explorer, if you can browse to \mediaserver\movies without needing a username/password then so can Plex.
Yes l understand what you are saying here BUT l still cannot SEE/FIND PMS on my LG TV. Error message saying No media server to be found.
I’m guessing there there is a bug with PLEX or LGTV Media link software. Talking to each other. And yes firewall is all good

The instructions I gave in earlier post relate to the LG TV Medialink or Smartsharing finding the server within Linked Devices but giving an error of No Files
If it is failing to find the server then it sounds like a different issue.
What is important is that both the LG TV and the Plex Media Server are on the same local network with IP Addresses on the same network subnet.
Also GDM must be enabled on the server within Settings / Server / Network. It is enabled by default - so I do not expect this to be a factor unless you disabled it
Also if you have a firewall then it must not block UDP ports used for SSDP and GDM Discovery. See list of UDP Ports to be allowed on this support page https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/201543147-What-network-ports-do-I-need-to-allow-through-my-firewall-
Also there are issues with discovery if the server goes to sleep and often one needs to reboot the server after sleep for the LG TV to discover the server
If you have issues, get logs from the server and screenshots
So restart the server to get fresh logs created
Take a screenshot of setting page for settings / server / network / Show Advanced
Take a photo of the LG TV Network Settings page
Take a photo of the LG TV Medialink for the linked devices
And when it fails to find the server, take a photo of the Media link linked devices / server access failure
and collect the server logs and attach here
See https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/200250417-Plex-Media-Server-Log-Files for how to get a zip of the logs
Tried all of that. Still no good

Can’t see your logs and screenshots anywhere - so not sure how
Hi there,
Been down that path with a IT specialist here and got the same answers you are asking for. All been checked and all ok.
So either l wait for a update or just remove it. Been trying to use this for 3 months off and on now and getting nowhere fast
There will be no update unless the problem is understood. If you need help, please provide the diagnostics requested
Looking at your account I see the server is set in high security mode with Secure Connections
set to Required
as opposed to Preferred
I do not believe LG Medialink supports that
So please try to change the settings
Settings / Server / Network / Secure Connections:
Change from Required
to Preferred
Save changes and restart the server
If it does not work then my previous post on diagnostics still applies
Just checked settings and it is on Preferred. So not sure were you are getting your intel from?? Thanks anyhow. Like l said. Some things need to be talked about on a phone instead of 10 thousand messages. Anyhow l would be very happy to ring you if you wanted. I don’t have a problem with that.

How would telephone support help with debugging Massive log files
Anyway, support is through the forums. If you need help please provide the logs and screenshots as requested - like thousands of other users before you have done and had their issues investigated and resolved.
W can talk about problems for days but it is only through diagnostics that one can get to the bottom of the cause of the problem and the logs and screenshots would be the starting point for the investigation.
There was a flag on the plex.tv web site that the server was on high security mode - the last communicated setting - it may need for the server to be signed out in settings / server / general and signed in again

Looking further into other account settings - I can see you have secured your environment by adding a pin to your account.
Could you remove the pin.
Settings
/ Users
/ My Home
and click on the padlock next to your server account to remove the pin
Hi There,
Have tried with the pin and without the pin. It makes no difference. That was just were we finished trying things. but normally it has no pin. Thanks anyhow for letting me know about this
Under settings / Web. What version should it be. 2.8.1 or newer??

Now with the pin disabled try to reboot the server, check the IP of the LG TV and check that it is what is in the network setting mentioned earlier.
Try to access the server through linked devices on the LG tv and get the logs and requested screenshots if still does not work.

That is fine but is not relevant to whether the LG TV medialink or smart share sees the server
Yeah ok. Just asking.
