Not getting 1080p in remote access

Player Version#: Unknown / Smart TV

Hi, I have enabled remote access for a friend who has a smart TV. I am not limiting bandwidth as it is set to unlimited. I have 30Mbps upload from my ISP. He has 50Mbps download from his ISP. However, he is only able to get 720p when he streams content from my server. When he attempts to select 1080p, a message is displayed that says, “a direct connection to server is not available”. Does anyone know what’s going on here? I’m out of ideas.

Check the settings in the Plex client on his TV. Many Plex clients have different settings for remote streams vs local streams and may default to 4 Mbps / 720p. Set it to Original/Maximum/etc.

I’ll check again, but pretty sure he tried changing the settings.

That looks like it is during playback. I meant the overall settings for the app.
