Here is the episode I select
Here is the episode that plays
It does this on the web app since the update to 3.0 & has been doing it on the iOS app for awhile. The only app that I use that seems to work is the TV OS app. Can this be fixed @elan?

Please provide the XML for that file and the PMS log showing you trying to playback that file.
Are you sure it’s playing the wrong episode? On my system the correct item is played but the system shows the wrong episode as playing.
Now Playing is often wrong but PlexPy is always correct which indicates the log files are correct. Something goofed up in the IN MEMORY stucture Plex is using to track items playing.
PS my Now Playing often has the wrong user as well.
What log do you need?
From Plex Web
Settings \ Server \ Help \ Download Logs
Here is the log
[Mod edit - Attachment removed due to containing private data]
I removed your file. It contains your access key. For the future, Go to Plex Web
Settings \ Server \ General \ Allow Plex Media Server tokens in logs
Turn that off.
Can you explain how you are trying to play the file? Your logs indicate you picked the 01/05/17 episode.
I am going to the screen shown above and clicking on the file but instead of playing 3/1/17 it plays the first one in that season. This happens every show that has the date listed in the episode field. A field that is not editable.
Any news on this bug?
Not yet. I’m not able to recreate the problem. And your logs don’t show a problem either, it thinks you wanted to play that file.
Would you mind sharing your library with me so I can try to reproduce?
Done. Shared the library that has this issue.
Were you able to test @“MovieFan.Plex” ?
I was able to recreate the problem from your library. I’m trying to recreate it with my own library you try and understand what is going on.
ok good! Thanks!
Any updates on this @“MovieFan.Plex” ?
I’ve passed the info along and the devs are looking. They think they know the problem, now to wait for a solution.
Okay thanks for helping!
I’m having a similar issue, but it only happens with the recordings made with the Plex DVR. My other TV shows imported from other sources are fine. I posted an explanation here: https://forums.plex.tv/discussion/262297/plex-plays-wrong-show-episode#latest
I have some additional information. I tested in all the following players and these were the results:
- iPhone SE (iOS): Plays first episode from the ones recorded by Plex DVR regardless which episode is selected.
- iPad Air 2 (iOS): Plays first episode from the ones recorded by Plex DVR regardless which episode is selected.
- Samsung Galaxy Note 5 (Android): Plays selected episode correctly.
- Apple TV 4 (TVoS): Plays selected episode correctly.
- Amazon Fire TV (Android): SOMETIMES will play selected episode correctly. Sometimes plays first episode from the ones recorded by Plex DVR regardless which episode is selected.
- Plex Web Player (Chrome Browser - Windows): Plays first episode from the ones recorded by Plex DVR regardless which episode is selected.
- Plex Media Player (Windows 10): Plays selected episode correctly ONLY IF player is in Full TV Mode. If the player is in non-Full TV mode (which is basically the Plex Web player) then the problem occurs and it plays first episode from the ones recorded by Plex DVR regardless which episode is selected, just as it does in the web browser.
- Plex App for Windows (Windows 10): Plays selected episode correctly.
