Not receiving email verification email

Just reset my password as instructed by Plex.

Now I am trying to enable two-factor authentication for an additional layer of security.

In order to enable two-factor authentication, I first need to verify my email address.

I have clicked the ‘Send Verification Email’ three times over the past hour and have not received any verification emails from Plex. Yes, I have checked my Spam folder. It seems like Plex just isn’t sending the requested verification emails.

I did a quick search for any other related posts and found this one:

This seems similar (i.e. people not receiving automated emails from Plex) but since my problem is not exactly the same problem (and I didn’t want my post deleted) I decided to ask my question in a new thread.

These kinds of issues are difficult for end users to troubleshoot because there is really no way to know if the problem is the source system not sending the email or the destination system not receiving the email (or some combination of both).

Thank you in advance for any assistance!

Hello @gbrandel, thanks for reaching out. Based on the account logs it looks like your IP is temporarily blocked due to too many request. You should just need to wait up to 24 hours before trying again. Please reply back if you’re still having issues.

Using a temporary Plex account to post this:

I am experiencing this problem as well. Tried to reset my password by typing in my email address. It said I would receive an email but I did not receive any. Checked my junk folder as well but no email. I have tried to do this multiple times today with the same result.

I appreciate any help you can provide with this issue.

Just a quick follow-up note.

Thank you for the quick reply! All of my verification emails did show up last night (about 24 hours after I had originally clicked the verify email button). I’ve never encountered that long of a delay when verifying email for any other service. Very odd.

In any event, I clicked the link in one of the emails and I was able to verify my email address and subsequently was able to setup two-factor authentication.

So, I guess all’s well that ends well.

I’m also not getting the verification email. Plex staff, please check my email on your mail server.
I also did not receive the Breach email, so it could be related. I want to enable 2FA, and email verification seems to be required.

For those of us who are able to reset our passwords by logging into our existing accounts, are unable to enable 2FA without email verification. The “contact us” page on the main Plex website Support page does not allow customers to send support requests to get the emails working.

Support questions submitted through the contact form will go unanswered.

So it’s frustrating to get help when it’s really needed, as there’s no clear support avenue to get help for the email issue. Not everyone is tech savvy to browse a Forum. May I suggest keeping this thread (or something similar) pinned / open indefinitely? And put a link from the Support page to here.

Well, we do already have a dedicated thread for that

It’s not the same…

This thread is ONLY for people not receiving the reset email! Posts not about that will be deleted without warning

Ok I posted over there. If that thread is meant for verification emails as well, then maybe change the thread title and description to say so. Otherwise we will consider it “off topic” and won’t post there.

Sadly only for reset pwd emails :frowning:

@kishkaru it looks like at some point your or a spam blocker in your email app marked our emails from this mail server as spam so the mail server stops sending things to that address. I have removed your email from the spam list so it should work now if you try the verify email again.

After you whitelisted my email, I used the password reset link as suggested by @dane22 and reset my password again. Changing the password immediately triggered a “password has been reset” email, so now we know the emails are getting through.

After that, I signed into my account at plex.tv and enabled 2FA. Looks like resetting the password via the magic link that @dane22 provided also silently did the email verification. Thanks guys!
