Nothing on screen but plex logo after installation

I have been using plex for years but have had many problems lately. I am a paid member and expect to be able to download the app as needed. I recently reinstalled windows 7 and tried to dl the plex app but all I get is a black screen with the plex logo after installation.

I have suspended anti virus software prior to installing so that is not the issue.

Your help is greatly appreciated.

What exactly did you install that’s not working?
The not installed yet makes me wonder if this is about setting up your Plex Media Server (e.g. running the bundled Plex Web app in your browser after running the installer to complete the setup) or if you try to install a Plex client/player?!

Please keep in mind that MS themselves no longer support Windows 7… so not sure that’s playing a role or makes it a good choice as platform to run your PMS…

I had a system failure and had to reinstall everything. I am a plex pass member and was simply trying to install the plex app for windows. I have been using plex for a number of years but recently have been having problems. The problem has changed from yesterday. I have now managed to get the sign in window but it will not sign in. The window indicates sign in or sign up I click on the sign in and nothing happens.

What Plex app are we talking about?

  • Plex Media Server
  • Plex Media Player
  • Plex (for Windows) -> current Plex desktop player
  • Plex for Windows -> outdated app from the Windows app store

Sounds like some kind of content/communication blocking might be getting in the way.

  • you installed and started the Plex Media Server
  • you’re opening http://127.0.0.1:32400/web on your server machine (or http://[PMS IP address]:32400/web if the server is running on a different machine in your home network)

Is this problem happening when you try to login into the web app or when you try claiming the server?

Content/communication blocking can be much more than just a firewall and your antivirus app – any blockers in your browser?
Do you get the same result if you’re using a different browser?

http://127.0.0.1:32400/web I get nothing with this address. I installed the plex server app. Then tried to use the app. I get some program offerings but when I try to sign in to my account so I can claim the server nothing happens.

I am sorry I have been trying to sign into plex media player which installed properly I guess.

The server will has not installed properly so I will uninstall and then try to reinstall.
