Long story short, the hardware my server ran on took a dump. Got new hardware, did a fresh install of Windows 10 on the new hardware, deleted the old server out of my “authorized devices” list, and went to install the server application on the new system. I open up the browser, get to the page to sign into my Plex account, and then I’m stuck at a loading screen. I’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling already to see if that fixes it.
I do have multiple users under my Plex home, but I’m signing into the main user.
Did you already complete the install of your server via the bundled version of Plex Web (e.g. http://127.0.0.1:32400/web if you’re on the same computer; http://[PMS IP address]:32400/web otherwise)?
If you’re getting stuck on the login page or Plex fails to progress after signing you in… do you have some browser add-ons / content blockers that could interfere with Plex? Do you experience the same behavior on different browsers (e.g. Chrome vs. Firefox vs. Edge)?
That’s actually where it’s getting stuck, when it’s trying to go from the executable installer to the web. I have not tried different browsers yet (only tried the Edge browser that’s based on Chromium), only extension that I know is installed is uBlock Origin.
Hadn’t heard of this plug-in until I googled it.
It looks prime for something that can cause issues, without looking too closely at what it does. Have you tried with it disabled?
So I tried with all extensions disabled, and tried Firefox and IE as well.
I had a thought though that turned out to be possibly correct.
I named this new machine the same thing in Windows as the old machine (they were both “MEDIA-SERVER”). When I changed the name of the PC in Windows and rebooted, it finally let me complete the setup in the web browser.
So even though I deleted the old server from my account something must have been throwing a fit about the similar names.
