I arrived at home, then update plex on my shield like i always do then( in the shop) this message a appear: to continue to use shield android tv please update do latest version.
i click the update button and the wheel keeps going forever.
please help cannot see my stuff, first time this happened. i have restarted the nvidea.

i can see the server and files in my computer.

Go to the Play Store on the shield. Scroll down the regular apps until you see Plex App (not the area where you update your apps). Open that Plex app icon, scroll down to “other apps like this” and then near the bottom you should see “Plex Media Server”.
Open that and you should see “Update”. This should update your server portion.
You may have better luck than me, mine updated but I have some other issues I need to work out now.
Anyway, hope this helps.

Please help. I have this same issue. I’ve followed these instructions and I’m certain I’m using the most dated media serve app. I’ve rebooted the nvidia device and it’s still giving me the Server Update Needed.image|690x920
Ugh. Never mind. 5 mins after I posted this it seems to fix itself. I guess I need patience.
I tried this, but when I go to download the plex media server in the app store it says it’s not compatible with my device (pixel 5 and Google tv chromecast).

This worked for me. The key is updating the “Plex Media Server” app, not the Plex app.
