Nvidia Shield 2017 with NAS network mount, or WD MyCloudMirror Gen 2 for Plex server?

Hey folks, just wondering if anyone has experience comparing the performance of a 2017 Nvidia Shield (non-Pro) with WD MyCloudMirror Gen 2 NAS volumes mounted, vs the Plex Media Sever that can be run on that NAS directly?

I’m assuming the Shield has way more transcoding and streaming power than the low-power CPU on the WD NAS, but does mounting the NAS’s volumes to the Shield deteriorate these benefits if it has to read/write files to/from the NAS over the network in order to do its job? I don’t want to go to the trouble of setting it up if it’s not going to be significantly peppier. I can and will connect the Shield via Ethernet, so hopefully network speed will at least be as fast as possible.

Thanks!
