I have recently purchased a new nvidea sheild pro to use as a media server to stream video stored on a SSD hard drive.
However the plex web app is unable to connect to the shield and displays the message "app.plex.tv is unable to connect to “SHIELD Android TV” securely .
See this article Opening Plex Web App | Plex Support. You’ll need to identify your Shield’s IP address. You can find this in the Shield’s main network settings.
Mate, you are a genius. Was ready to put this hunk a junk in the bin!!! Shield can now find content on the hard drive and I can now access the media through the web app!
Had no idea that you had to login through the shields IP address!
How do you ‘claim’ the server through the local IP?
I am able to access PMS via http://[Local Plex Media Server IP Address]:32400/web
But when I go back to https://app.plex.tv it still shows “app.plex.tv is unable to connect to “SHIELD TV” securely”
Look in the settings page of the Plex client app on the Shield to check if Plex Media Server is running. If not, goto the Shield’s app’s page and try running Plex Media Server manually. If that still doesn’t work, there may be an issue. You’ll need to grab the logs manually, Accessing SHIELD Storage | Plex Support.
I just started to experience this issue. I can log on from my Nvidia system. I can login from my iPhone but I cannot access the server from any of my apple TVs. the only thing that may have changed is the operating system on the Apple TV.
can you point me to the right direction to get this resolved?
also, when using my Mac, I can access everything via the IP address to the shield but when I go to app.plex.tv, I get an error message.
app.plex.tv is unable to connect to “SHIELD Android TV” securely
Its “Secure connections” setting may be set to disabled, or you may need to adjust some settings on your network. You can learn more about secure connections here.
