@ChuckPa - after getting back from the gym, I have noticed that overall, this version seems to be working a lot better compared to the others.
So far:
Subjectively, better loading times of 4K videos with DirectPlay
Behavior 3 - seems to be fully fixed. All of the sample files I have provided are playing properly again
Behavior 2 - EDIT: This has appeared without touching the controls or the playback for Naked Gun, where I can see notable dips in the bandwdith without any.
Behavior 1 - also have not seen this recently with the new build.
I did notice, that when exiting Naked Gun, that there is a disconnect from where I exited the video - and where Plex thinks, I exited the video if I come back and resume playback. It seems to think I exited about 2 minutes in the future from where I exited, but, that could be a one off problem.
If i would go ahead to install this interim release would that auto-update to the next GA/Stable version later on?
Or would we have to keep track on the release announcements to reinstall from the play store later on?
Thanks to all involved in this troubleshooting, good work everyone!
Have a great evening and upcoming week!
Edit:
For added reference, i can also confirm that the new interim patch / version is working as intended no pixelation from what i can see in my testing.
However in experiencing another glitch, if i go in to my 4k library, load the movie info page for a movie, start the movie let it run for a minute or so, then press back to end the movie play session, which brings me back to the movie detail view, if i press back now to go back to the library list, it autoplays the first movie in the library view directly, i have sorted view on last added active.
Anyone else seen this bug?
Went away after i coldbooted the Shield, didnt make a difference just to force close the app somehowā¦
I just installed the beta released on June 10, 2024. It fixed the pixelization problems that I was having (Case #3 above).
Not sure why the struggles went on. I like several others tried playback on different platforms with different clients and did not see the same issue. It started right after I upgraded to the 10.17.0.805 beta. It seemed pretty clear to me what the cause was.
Of course, figuring out why it was happening is something else.
In any case it is now fixed. But that didnāt keep me from spending a few hours messing with all of my client settings and screwing around with my server.
I probably should have just used a different platform until Plex got it squared away.
I know that Behavior 3 was the main issue with this thread, but, on the beta version, I just encountered Behavior 2 while watching Spaceballs in 4K. What happens is the video will stop, audio will play back, or vice-a-versa. The file itself is fine - I can play it back a minute later and it is in sync, or pull the file on Plex for Chrome, or VLC and it plays back fine.
I know the log is flooded with Analytics stack traces, I canāt resolve this - my upstream DNS server is blocking this request (I use a rotation of 4 different servers).
Is this something that can be disabled to make the logs cleaner?
This issue might be related to the nvidia shield os hotfix, but, given that it isnāt GA was wondering if this is something more pertinent to Plex compared to the Shield OS.
What I verified is that the sample, while playing, lost audio sync.
Specifically, the audio lagged the video by almost a full second in my test case.
Stopping playback and resuming did reestablish sync.
( this happens because a reference frame is sent at the start of playback )
Sorry for a basic question here, but how do you get that information overlay at the top of the screen? I have that option enabled on my Shield but I dont ever see anything. Is there a button to invoke it?
This audio de-sync only happens to me when āRefresh Rate Switching = Onā
and itās pretty random when it happens.
If Refresh rate switching = off, I never get the de-sync.
