I use Plex on multiple different platforms, and have been having trouble with streaming Video On Demand content. This feature works very well for me on every platform I’ve tried (Samsung Smart TV, iOS, Chrome Browser) EXCEPT for my NVIDIA Shield. When I try to play any streaming video (movies, Live-TV, etc) on the Shield, I get the following error:
“An error occurred while attempting to play this video. Please check your connection and try again.”
Again, this feature works in every other client I’ve used whether this is on the same network as the Shield or in other physical locations. This Shield device is also running my Plex Media Server. I can watch every video in my local library without any issues. It’s only the on-demand streaming content that does this.
I’ve scoured the Internet for solutions and tried a bunch. I’ve tried clearing my cache, reinstalling the app, reinstalling the server, deleting the contents of my codec folder, rebuilding the database, and monkeying with the transcoding settings… all to no avail.
To get around it, we’ve used the Plex app on iOS and cast it over to the Shield and that’s worked just fine. It would be really nice not to have to do that, though.
Has anyone had this issue and managed to fix it?
