As are alot of other users I think it might be time to jump ship - Emby here I come…
Wow Emby is awesome -I can highly recommend it - yes its not as slick as Plex out of the box but install Kodi, install Aeon MQ 7 skin and then embycon addon and you are f**king laughing.
I had an issue, posted on the forums and resolved by Emby support within a couple of hours.
None of this ‘sorry still investigating’ BS.
Well over a month now and you clowns still havent sorted this.
I seriously recommend you let the Emby guys sort this out for you. It will be done within the hour…
Oh ha ha on lets ruin my plex server
If only you put more effort into helping users rather than pissing them offf…
Anything happening here??? This issue hasn’t been fixed for at least months. Would be very happy to see any progress and start using plex for my music on the Shield at some point as well.
Bump. Same problem, frustrated with lack of music artwork for my local collection. Hard to sell me on a Plex Pass when important services don’t work. Looking forward to solution.
Dave
Wow, @anon18523487, sorry goat is being such an… ass.
Anyway, I have this problem too. No artwork. I messed with the agents, re-scanned the library––nothing. I have embedded artwork in most of the .FLACs and also have folder.jpg in every single album.
I can select the artwork manually via the pencil (only for the artist, not the album), but as others mentioned that won’t work long-term.
Regardless of a person being an ass or not… why has this not been at least looked into? I honestly spend 30 to 60 min a day working on cover art. With over 5500 albums this is a real pain. Yes, I click the pencil and 90% of the time the ALBUM art is there but just not selected. I mean this has been going on for over 4 months.
Take for example Hulu or Netflix… if you paid for their service and 50 to 80% of the movie/tv show cover art didn’t display and you asked about it and 4 months later STILL NOTHING. I think you would be pissed too!
Ever since Plex disabled Plex Cloud and hasn’t implemented this I canceled my Plex pass. So, now that I’m a free user, I don’t think I get to complain as much as paying users.
Besides, a little kindness goes a long way.
Anyway, that’s rough. Outside of creating a script yourself, I agree that this should be important for them to look into. Checkout this thread where it’s documented better.
When you say subscribe, what do you mean? I have raised a similar issue Album artwork and artist artwork not working for basic music albums, but have so far does not appear to have been looked at by Plex Support (I even tweeted them about it). Is this a paid feature? Is that what you mean about subscribe? And if so why don’t Plex say that? The silly thing is, why would anyone pay for a subscription when it appears that high profile features like cover art doesn’t work without being given any indication that its a premium feature?
@ Plastikfan (Richie Hawtin fan buy any chance?
) You need to pay monthly for album art to work correctly on the Shield. This is what worked for me anyway.
Plex support said they would look into it so I assume it should work for those that do not subscribe/have life time pass etc. It did work many many months ago but was broken by an update.
Myself and many other users have all raised this issue but with Plex support as it is you might as well drop your trousers and urinate into a very strong wind.
Its strange that everytime I highlight how useless Plex Support is my servers seem to stop working and I have to redo them from scratch.
Plex Pass subscription has been cancelled and will never be renewed again
Emby all the way…
Good luck getting help from these clowns guys…
@goat999, yep you got me right, Plastikman/Richie Hawtin/FUSE/Robotman/80xx all the way, with a touch of Orbital (hence the logo) for good measure! Anyway, thanks for letting me know about having to pay for Plex to get the cover art working. The amount of time I’ve spent trying to get cover art working, I could have done this manually myself already. Or if there way a plex API, I could script it. I guess I’ve already done the pissing in the wind thing, now my trousers are well and truly sodden!
Ahh you sound like a man after my own heart.
I love my electronica, Orbital/Hawtin were Gods in my eyes back in the 90’s!
I’ve thrown my toys out of the pram with Plex, everytime I take the piss out of them they ■■■■ my server up so I have deleted my accounts, cancelled subscription and moved to Emby
Not sure if you have used it – it is a little clunkier then Plex and you do have to pay $4,99 a month, but their support is awesome. They have a BETA version that runs on the Shield very well
It costs a fortune but if you are well into your music check out Roon software – it’s the dogs bollox but you can’t stream it when out and about – its purely for hifi/music lovers on an internal network
Gotta go – supposed to be working

If you are after any music and don’t care where you get it from – look at Soulseek – I got some really rare stuff on there……
I am looking into this. No news so far, sorry. This is not a paid feature. There is something wrong, still trying to identify where.
Do you need logs?
Here are some LOGS… I just updated like 4 albums and some of the cover art did not come in but all I had to do was go in and select it.
Any news on this?
Hello!
I installed Plex Server on a new Shield yesterday. I have the same problem. No cover art. I didnt have problem with this on the old system (i3 AsRock Vision. Windows 10). In every album folder there is an jpg called folder.jpg with the cover picture. It works adding it manually, but i have many hundred albums so a fix for this would be great. I cant understand that this is so difficult to address.
@anon18523487 to further troubleshoot this, I tried setting up a brand new plex server connected to a local drive via USB to the Shield (instead of a NAS drive). It still does not automatically match the art.
