Nvidia Shield - Pinned source disappear when Plex server is unavailable

Hi

After updating to the recent Plex for Android, pinned sources are disappearing every time when Plex server is not reachable. At first, I was pining them again. Then I tried to clear Plex app data on Shield and login again. Surprisingly, all pinned sources got restored! Then next day, all over again. No single pinned source on sidebar.

Previously, Plex player on Shield was just showing that source is not available but it was keeping it pinned. Once source is available, all was good again.

Looks like it’s a bug on the latest release.

With the latest update (today), pinned sources are surviving Shield reboot but not NAS reboot.

@anon18523487 here’s another thread i.e. on sources.

My main server goes to sleep every night and until recently, this last player version update for the shield, everything pinned to the sidebar has stayed. But now, with 9.2.1.32664 (841480577), Plex is just removing them from the sidebar. Who thought this was a good thing? “Strange… we cannot reach the server, they must not want to have items for that server pinned anymore…”

As bad as Plex is, at realizing the servers are online again, at least I could kill the application and re-open it and everything was OK again. NOW?!? Now, I need re-add the libraries every morning after I wake up my server.

The attached log, interestingly, shows the Plex player trying to find my sleeping server at 3:30 AM, why @BigWheel ? If nobody is using it, why is the player trying to look for a server?

ShieldPlayerPlexLog.log (4.3 MB)

I have not looked at your logs yet but the player will ping the server for periodic connectivity checks so if you do use it is it ready as it has always done as far as I know. Obviously is not supposed to be removing the server if it cannot find it only labeling it as unavailable.

Thank you for your logs. This has happened to me as well in the past couple weeks when my client cannot reach server for various reasons.

Server: Windows v 1.26.2.5797
Client: NVIDIA Shield v9.2.1.32664

Pinned libraries are unpinned in the client whenever the server is rebooted or the network connection is lost. However, libraries set to the type “Other Videos” are not unpinned.

Any update about solving this bug? It’s been a while since is reported from several people in several threads…

I just tried lates official build downloaded from here, opted into beta, installed latest beta 9,3.x. The same bug is still there…

I have the problem without any libraries pinned…

Simply each time my server is unreacheable (in my case, the network is shutdown), the plex client on my shield will “loose” every libraries known from my server and only offer the “plex” services (the live streams and whatever plex try to add recently).
So each time, I simply reset to the default the home settings and voila… all MY libraries appear again
but quite annoying to do that each time I start plex these days!

Sorry I do not have an update.

Such an issue seems patch/hot fix worthy. This is core functionality that has become broken and receiving much feedback, with logs, in a short period of time.

Well, screw it. I fixed it by myself downgrading to 9.1.0.32210. Only what I’m getting with 9.2.x is a new logo, a new start animation and broken pinned sources. I can live without all three new and exciting features :grinning:

Let me know when you fix the problem, maybe I will give a chance again.
