Nvidia Shield Pro 2019 - No PGS sub support and video is direct streaming instead of direct playing

Player: Nvidia Shield Pro 2019
Player Version: 8.12.2.22740 (beta)
Server: Synology NAS DS416play
Server Version: 1.21.2.3943

Problem 1: PGS subtitle support seems to have disappeared. If PGS subtitles are enabled I get an error that says, “Unable to play media”.

If I disable the PGS subtitles then the video plays, however…

Problem 2: My videos are now Direct Streaming instead of Direct Playing. Used the dashboard on my laptop to monitor status.

Tested video file has been played many times (MKV, HEVC, AC3 audio, PGS subs).

I generated logs within 15 minutes of the error if that helps locate things in the logs.

Let me know if you need any more info from my end.

Not sure why things have stopped working like they used to but any help would be appreciated.

edit 1: I tested the same files by playing them on my iphone and they direct play and display the PGS subtitles without issue. Plex Version 7.12 on the iphone if that matters.

There should be a new beta rolled out asap to resolve this, soon, don’t panic!

I updated my PLEX client to version 8.12.2.22745 beta and I can now Direct Play my files as well as display PGS subtitles.

Edit: originally typed the incorrect client version (changed 11745 to 22745).
