Was running a Plex server on a windows laptop connected to a Synology server. In the Photo library, I was able to point to a “My Server Pictures” folder on the Synology, which contains family photos and videos in several hundred subfolders. It worked like a charm and I was able to see all content via the Plex app on a Roku. Except when I needed to take my laptop on trips and wasn’t connected to the Synology temporarily. The Synology is too old to run its own Plex server.
Fast forward to this week. I set up an Nvidia Shield with its own Plex Server. No issues mounting my Synology to the device and seeing the “My Server Pictures” folder and subfolders when setting up the Photo Library. But with only the “My Server Pictures” folder selected, I can only see photos/videos in that folder - I can see no content from the hundreds of subfolders within My Server Pictures.
There is no option I can find to “include subfolders” either in the Nvidia Shield Plex app or via the PlexTV web app. I can see the subfolders when in the “Add folders to your library” view, but I’m trying to avoid having to manually add hundreds of individual subfolders, especially when I never had to do this when running a Plex Server on my windows laptop.
Looking for a way to point at one photos NAS folder and have all the subfolders included when scanning.
