Recording on my Nvidia Shield/PLEX system worked great before. I was having issues with my HDHomeRun and tuners not being released (I thought it was a Plex issue at first) and had uninstalled Plex.
Now that I figured out the issue is with Google Live Channels, I have reinstalled Plex DVR and nothing will now record. I keep getting a message stating “Recording Failed”. I have a 3 TB drive attached that is considered Internal Storage and works fine with Live Channels. But will not work with Plex since I have reinstalled the DVR.
Help would be appreciated. Here is part of my log from where I just tried to record something:

I uninstalled the updates on my Shield and then re-ran the setup for Plex. It acted like it was going to work then failed.
Unless I can get some help figuring this out, looks like I am going to have to dump Plex and go for a used Tivo for dependability. Cutting the cord was supposed to save me money but I keep having to buy more stuff.
From your logs, it’s look like a write permission issue in the NVIDIA_SHIELD/.grab folder.
Did you try to delete the .grab folder using a file manager like X-Plore? I would try this first.
If you have activated the “over the network” switch in shield menu/storage settings, can you copy a file from your PC to the NVIDIA_SHIELD folder on your drive? Since samba shares are owned by plex, you will see if plex has write access or not.

I will try to delete that file. I do not do the “Over the Network” thing since my hard drive is actually part of the internal storage of Shield.
The over the network thing should work also with adopted storage. I do this sometimes to transfer some files on my internal storage on my Shield. I used a 6tb hard drive on my Shield pro for over a year. But I switched to a little NAS a month ago. Do much trouble using hard drive on the Shield.

Thanks for your help. I set a recording and did not get an error. My .grab folder was in a bit different place (under TV SHOWS) but this may work!
Using a NAS sounds pretty good, but I really only use the DVR portion to record some sports on some local channels I do not get on PS Vue.
