Nvidia Shield - Sync stops halfway with error

Hey all,

Whenever i try to sync a movie/episode to any of my devices, i keep getting an error on the device saying there is an error with this file. Below is a relevant log when this happens. I cannot seem to find a solution to the problem i am having on the forum. Note: this problem happens with all my media files, and i tried to sync to 3 different devices.

Having bought pex pass mainly for this feature and runnning into this issue is quite annoying!

Is someone able to look into this? I have tried every possible suggestion i could find on the forum, but no avail. It seems that transcoding just stops after 15 minutes but i have no idea why.

What on earth does one have to do to get some support in here? I have this problem since the very latest server update, and found out that the server also instantly crashes when playing a video with subtitles and when you are lucky enough that does not happen, the playback is not smooth at all with constant frame skipping.

Tested a previous version of the Plex Server and all works well, so seems to be an issue with the latest release. @anon18523487, can someone of the team have a look?

Hey smashernl, I’ve exactly the same problem as yours.
For about two months more or less, I can’t sync anything to my different devices (two iPad) from my Nvidia Shield server.

But It seems to be working when I deactivate the hardware acceleration on the transcoder (server settings).
Try this, maybe it will solve your problem.

I hope Plex Team will fix this quickly because, it’s quite annoying to have to deactivate the reason why you’ve bought a Nvidia Shield in the first place…

Hey there and thanks for your helpful contribution. I can confirm that turning off hw acceleration resolves the problem, but indeed the Shield is nothing without hw acceleration. I agree that this is not a satisfactory solution and hope the Plex team will at least confirm the existance of this problem.

Oh my god, with this server even local playback seems to be failing, in combination with the Plex client on the shield. With some media files, the app instantly crashes and i cannot get it to play normally. Thanks very much plex staff for the updates regarding these issues, and releasing a version that is not even ready to leave the Alpha stage.
