Apologies is this is a known issue but I couldn’t see it in the feedback forum. Since the latest beta update for Nvidia Shield TV, I am getting some very strange Transcoding issues.
When I play most things, always with low quality files and some of the time with higher quality files, I get both video and audio transcoding. My setup is Shield - > AVR - > TV ARC. This is in relation to a remote server, cannot confirm if it happens locally. A few nights ago it was happening more frequently with 4k files and such, so I imagine it’s already being worked on.
Example issue:
Source: Transcode (Server Name)
Quality: 1920x1080 @ 6.9mbps
Video: Transcode (H264 (HW) - H264 (HW))
Audio: Transcode (AAC - MP3)
Transcode Reason: Direct play was attempted but failed, fallen back to transcoding
Player: ExoPlayer
Manually downgrading to a previous stable version via an APK removed this issue so it is definitely related to the update and not my settings. Can anyone advise if this is a known issue and/or if there is any current fix / fix in the works?
