I have just set up Plex Media Server on my shield as I have just bought a Tuner for it and plex is the only software that will run it (as far as I can tell). I have set up Plex Server as per instructions and set the storage location to Internal HDD but plex refuses to record. It can pause live tv and even rewind, indicating it is actually recording, if only temporarily, but it refuses to properly record something from the guide.
From the research I have done, everyone seems to be saying to set the recording library to inside the NVIDIA_SHIELD folder but no one explains how to actually do it. Also, if that’s the only place it can record, shouldn’t it be set there by default?
When you hit record it will have an “Add to Library” then the library name. it will record where ever that library folder is set for that type of library. The library should not be able to exist if it does not have a folder already set. If on a shield guessing you had the default libraries created when you first set it up. SO there should already be a Movies and a TV library set up with a folder location. You can view the folder location that is set up for it in the Web app when editing the library.
this image is not a server on a shield but should be similar.
this image has the folder path which my “Shows” library looks for my TV shows/episodes files and where if recording it will save the files.
Only my TV Shows library, I was hoping to have a separate Recordings Library. It seems after recording to my TV Shows library using the Web App, the Shield has now started working.
Did you a) create a folder on the file system for that purpose and then b) create a new Plex Library (name it Recordings if you like) with that folder in it?
