Hi,
I’m using Nvidia Shield TV and QNAP TS-251 as server. The PLEX app and PMS is using the latest versions.
The subtitles embedded inside the movie (.PGS) is working. The external subtitles don’t work (.SRT). The movie is Direct Play.

How are they named? They should be labelled “House - S01E01.eng.srt” for external unforced subs or “House - S01E01.eng.forced.srt” for forced external subs.

Hi,
They are labelled correctly and I’m using Sub-Zero Subtitles channels. The server settings for languages: Prefer audio on English, Subtitles always activated and Prefer Swedish subtitles. The button for choose audio and subtitles auto is activated.
I see the subtitles on the TV (PGS and SRT), but when .SRT is activated and show yellow button still it doesn’t display any subtitle.

Have you tried playing back the same media using another client? Then you can determine if the subtitle file actually contains anything in the file as it could be broken.

That’s a completely different video player so not a fair comparison but at least proves the subtitles do have text in them. Can you try another Plex client?

I have tried Plex for iOS, Plex Media Player (Mac OS X) and the Plex Web and there the subtitle works.
On NVIDIA Shield TV the subtitles works for TV Shows but not for the Movies section i recognized now. Quite strange.
Can you provide the PMS log after trying to play a movie with subs from the Shield?

Hi, I attached the logs for the Plex Media Server.
Aug 26, 2016 07:58:11.042 [0xf1bffb90] DEBUG - Failed to stream media, client probably disconnected: 104 - Connection reset by peer
Your log is indicating some sort of error. Can you make me a 1 minute sample of your file along with a copy of the srt?
Testing out subs on my Shield and they play fine.
Hi,
My “solution” was the setting Force Subtitles to “Only image format”.

I tried that and it didn’t work for me.
I got a Shield TV 2017 this week and I am experiencing the same issue. Subtitles load fine in VLC and Kodi but not in Plex when watching a movie. Subs are working in Plex for iOS, Android and MacOS.
