NVIDIA Shield TV Plex Server settings?

Just received my new Shield TV, want to use it as a plex server. I’ve set it up, it has accessed the library from my NAS fine and displays everything. My client is a Raspberry Pi 3 B+ running libelec with the plex plugin. I can’t play anything, all the client does it display a round blue circle for a minite then go back to the play option screen, however if I play off my old server using the same client it works seamlessly. Are there any settings I should be changing on the Shield server? I haven’t changed anything on PMS from default on the Shield so far. The shield, old plex server and NAS are ethernet connected to router. Client is connected via wifi. Videos are only 1080p not h265

How many servers do you have in use at this time? Have any old servers that was replaced and no longer in use?

Well I just want to use the 1 Shield TV. I turned my old PC back on to use to test. That’s it.

If you plan to still use the old server, then you need to create a new static IP and port forwarding rules in your router for the new Shield device. If you don’t plan to use the old server then you need to still setup the static IP on the Shield and reassign the port forward to the Shield. If you do keep both servers running from time to time, will need to increment the new servers public port by 1. So old server is 32400/32400 and new is 32400/32401 and so on if you add a 3rd device etc.

Thanks for that. Would that be causing the issue I’m having though? As im only using it in my LAN

I can confirm I’ve done this and still having the same issue. It has to be some settings on the PMS for this device

Yes, still need to make the changes even if I’m LAN. Let’s say you lose power or reboot the machine, your IP will change if you don’t do this causing issues later. Provide server Remote access screenshots of the old and new server to see if everything looks good. And the router settings for static IP and port forwarding settings.

Thankyou I’ll post those. I did have a look through and it all looks good. One thing I just thought of, I used the plex media app that came with the shield, maybe I need to simply update it?

Make sure have the latest Plex media player and Plex Server updates.

The versions that ship on the Shield are definitely out of date. Update to the latest version of the Nvidia Android TV software and the latest version of both the Plex Client and Server software.

It is not a problem running two servers at the same time. They must have separate, static IP addresses and separate names.

Port forwarding is only for remote access. If you’re not using that feature then don’t worry about it. Even if you are, get local access working first, then worry about remote access.

In addition to the Pi, try using Plex Web, Shield, or other clients. See if the problem is just with the Pi or with all clients.

OK so the server and clients are now up to date, but the same thing is happening is happening from the Pi, however my phone can play media from the same server. The weird thing is that the Pi can play media no problems from my old server. The servers all have static IP’s as well as the client.
I have attached Remote Access settings screenshots and IP Reservation screenshot

Looks like you’re running servers on your shield and desktop (PC). Since the Shield is using port 32400, change the desktop port Public IP to 32401 and select the checkbox Manually specify public port and place 32401 in there as well like the screenshot and click apply.

Thanks, I’m actually not, i just temporarily enabled the PMS on my Desktop (as it’s my old PMS) to compare the settings between the 2
