I am currently running the latest version of plex media server 1.4.1 on a 2017 Nvidia Shield 16gb with an attached 500gb ssd attached with a sata to usb 3.0 cable as internal storage. HD homerun connect as my tuner. I am able to record without transcoding in the mpeg2 format without issues. But when I try to use the experimental transcode function recordings are pixelated when there is any motion on the screen. Is this a known issue? any workarounds? I thought the Nvidia shield could handle two to three transcodes at the same time.
Yep, it’s a known issue. Plex devs have samples from me and tell me they’re looking at it. It doesn’t just affect transcoding at the time of recording - it affects transcoding and optimisation at a later time too.
No known workaround.
@DavidAndAndrea is this a problem with the server on the Shield or in general?
TBH with so many Plex DVR problems I’ve no idea whether I’m still getting that problem. It’s the least of my issues
