Odd Video Glitches with Dolby Vision on Nvidia Shield TV

Server Version#: 1.42.2.10156
Player Version#: 2026.0.0

Not sure at what point this started happened, since I’ve been away from home for 6 weeks… I only know that it didn’t happen before I left.

I’m getting some really odd, glitchy video playback on Dolby Vision videos on my Nvidia Shield 2019 Pro. Randomly, every couple minutes, the video will show the picture from about 1-2 seconds ahead in the actual video. It’ll only do this for a fraction of a second, and then the video will continue normally. If I skip back and re-play the same section of video, it does not glitch. These videos are not being transcoded.

Audio plays normally.

Here’s an example:

TV is a Hisense 65” U7K.

The glitching is present with every combination of frame rate & resolution matching on or off.

I also tried switching to Low-Latency Dolby Vision mode in the Shield’s Developer Settings. No change. Still getting intermittent video glitches during playback.

The files in question are 5-10Mbps total bitrate, and use either Dolby Atmos or AAC audio.

I did try installing the third-party Plezy client on my Shield. It does NOT have this video glitching.

EDIT: Scratch that, Plezy glitches, too… So, Shield problem? ExoPlayer problem?
