2 weeks old. I wonder how often these broken premium features are tested by devs?
Having a similar issue on an iPhone. I prepared real hard for a 7-day road trip, I synced and curated SO MUCH DATA and this version of the PLeX app has totally dropped the ball, and I am now stuck without playlists, or a reliable local playback method, and it’s still looking for my server, and my home screen is still blank.
The iOS app needs to be ended before it can try to play my offline content again. It stops when I switch apps for an extended period of time.
After playing a couple songs, I decide to change to a different track (That’s not in the current play queue) and the same thing happens. It just doesn’t play. Shows the cover art though. I end the app, go right back to the same track, it plays> >:(
Also, the Plex app appears to be looking for my server ALWAYS now. I want my home screen to switch to “local only” like how I was used to on Android. My server is intentionally down, and I want to use my data local. On the Android app I used to use, I recall a setting that allowed users to set offline manually from the homescreen. I can’t find it anymore. I’m not sure if it was updated away too, but this iOS experience has been really upsetting for me. “prefer offline” was already set in settings BTW.
My biggest disappointment though, I synced my tracks by playlist, but none of the playlists made it to my local device. (This worked on Android!). Now it’s just my tracks sorted by library. I don’t want to use PLeX in the current state it’s in. Any insight on why these features don’t work anymore? Making premium features work consistently should be a high-prioriy objective.
Thoughts:
I paid money to plex so I could sync and reliably play my local data, and this premium feature no longer works when I needed it most. This feature used to work. I’m really holding back my emotions at the moment because I spent hours curating playlists, and I spent more hours waiting for it to finish syncing (It seems to get interrupted easily when in the background and you need to open the app again for it to start downloading again).
I have since exported my playlists out of PLeX and I’m building them somewhere else. I’ve gotten a decent run from my plex pass, but I’m getting tired.
I want a service that just works. I’ve been using PLeX for 2 years, and the mobile experience has just been terrible UX. Constantly ending the app, starting it again, listening to artists instead of playlists is not worth my energy.
