Offline playlists don’t show up

Totally agree, downloads & sync, 100% do not work properly. Here is the scenario: while on mobile device, like a tablet with Wi-Fi connection, download music and a movie or two. Great, it shows up in the downloads & sync folder on the device. Checking the server, it is clear that the server transcoded the movie and the music. The progress bar on the tablet showed that everything transferred. OK, right? Wrong!

Now, go to the airport, get on your plane and start the Plex app, select your user and you get the message that you are not connected. No problem, go to the left sidebar and pull down your menu. Now select downloads&sync. To your amazement you get a screen that says there is no content. Now you are thoroughly angry because there is 0% tech support to solve this issue. At your hotel room later that day, you connect to the hotel internet and then look at the downloads&sync folder. Yup, everything appears again. So what this means is that, yes, you can download content to your device, but, no, you cannot access it unless you are connected to the internet. Baffling concept.

And yes, while at the hotel doing this experiment in futility, you can turn off your WiFi connection while the app is running, close the app, open it again and the content WILL appear. Huh? But then reboot the tablet and try again while not connected and NOPE, it’s gone again.

So, this is clearly a coding issue on the Android app. This behavior is repeatable on both tablets and multiple phones.

Unfortunately, I do not expect this to be fixed as it is a long term problem that the Plex developers consider a ‘feature’.
